Letting out a sigh, Raven sunk into the seat across from Jesse and Liam in the cafeteria.

"So?" Jesse picked up his sandwich. "How'd it go?"

"Detention." Raven slipped even lower.

"Oh my god, perfect little Raven in detention," laughed Jesse.

The long-haired boy rolled his eyes. He was not in a good mood. "Every Saturday for the next two months. I also have to write an apology letter to the program board. They almost didn't let this year candidate go because of what I did."

"Shit, Rav." Jesse was struggling not to laugh too hard. "Way to start out the year."

"Tell me about it." He tugged on the collar of his shirt and glanced at Liam.

The boy hadn't looked up from his phone.

"How was your summer?" asked Raven.

Liam locked his phone screen and tucked it away. "I live in a farming pack. It sucks and my rank doesn't help."

"Sorry." Raven lowered his head.

"Detention," chuckled Jesse. "I never thought I'd see you there."

"Shut up." Raven grabbed his bag. "I'm going back to the room." He put it on and marched out of the cafeteria.

The eyes of the other boys followed him along with their whispers. It wasn't a secret about what had happened at the end of the last school year. Raven maneuvered around a group blocking the door.

"Excuse me."

The boy moved forward. "Whoops, sorry."

Raven passed by them and hurt someone whisper.

"He almost got sold off."

The sub's chest tightened and he quickened his pace to get outside. Taking in a deep breath of fresh air, Raven wandered down the sidewalk toward the dorm rooms. He past by the entrance and followed the path onto the grounds. Stopping at a bench, he dropped his backpack on the grass and sat down. He'd messed up. Raven had spent the whole summer being reminded how badly he had messed up. Every punishment that came his way, he deserved. That was what he got for disobey his superiors and embarrassing the school. He just needed to refocus and get back to work. No distraction. The sub planned to immerse himself in his studies and hopefully, it would help fix his reputation.

"I hate p.e."

Raven rolled his eyes. That wasn't true. Jesse always found some way to torment him during the worst class of the day. Jesse simply hated that today they were only running around the gym.

Jesse kept on groaning. "We're subs. Staying in shape doesn't fucking matter."

"I don't know," said Liam, holding open the locker room door. "I wonder what Daven would think if you turned into a little butterball."

"What?" Jesse breathed out through his nose.

Raven slipped by as he recognized the signs that his roommate was going to blow.

Liam lifted a brow. "Something you might when to consider."

"Fuck you." Jesse marched past Liam, muttering to himself.

They each took their turn checking the list to see which spot belong to them. Raven found his locker and took out the card inside that had the combination. He tucked it in his book bag and started to unpack his things. Jesse and Liam were still bickering nearby. It was mostly Jesse being very adamant that he hadn't gained any weight. Liam seemed to be ignoring the strawberry blond as he dumped his belongings into his locker.
