Magnus had been planning the trip for months. He had gotten Alec's leave already approved and he was looking at the hotel reservation in his hand. It was really happening. Finally, after such a long time of being together he was going to pop the question.

"Are you sure about this, Dad?" Rafe asked Magnus after he had explained the whole idea.

"Should I not be? Is there something I don't know?" Magnus was so worried that he shook Rafe gently.

"Calm down, I'm just messing with you. Clearly you're not up for it right now." Rafe patted his dad's arm.

"Oh, ha, funny." Magnus rolled his eyes at his oldest son. "Guess who I'm leaving you with now?"

"What? I'm old enough to be on my own! You told me, no babysitter." Rafe puckered his lips in anger.

"See? How does it feel?" Magnus smirked at ruffled his hair which honestly made it look more calm.

"Bitc-"

"Language." Magnus scolded.

"You don't know what I was going to say."

"Sure. Why don't you go get Max from school?"

"Do I have to?" Rafe whined.

"Awe, still afraid of miss Catherine?" Magnus smiled when he saw the blush on his sons cheeks.

"Her name is just Catherine and I'm not afraid."

"You need to ask her out." Magnus fixed Rafe's collar. "Maybe invite her over sometime this weekend."

"Absolutely not!" Rafe looked like he was going to be sick.

"Think about it while picking up your brother." Magnus smiled.

"Never gonna happen." Rafe sauntered away only to stop in the doorway. "You don't leave until we're back right?"

"Of course not, darling." Magnus felt a pang of pain at the fear still present in Rafe. He wanted to destroy whoever had hurt his little boy.

"Good." Rafe hurried on his way, padding Alec on the stairs. "Hey dad; bye dad."

"Are you getting Max?" Alec asked his rushed son.

"Yeah."

"Good luck worth Catherine." Alec held in a laugh at Rafe's pained look.

"Very funny." Rafe rolled his eyes and tried to hide his blush.

"Hello darling." Magnus danced to the door as Alec walked inside.

"Hey, hun." Alec kissed Magnus in a greeting and pulled back. "Our son has his first crush."

"Oh I know! He's almost as cute as you used to be." Magnus clapped his hands.

"Think we can still trust him to be alone for the weekend?" Alec asked while pulling off his jacket and boots.

"Of course. I told him to invite get over." Magnus took Alec's jacket and hung it on the hook.

"You did what?" Alec asked point blank.

"It's reverse psychology. I learned it from that mundane book you got me." Magnus snapped his fingers and the parenting book appeared in his hands.

"You read it?" Alec was shocked.

"It was important to you so of course I did." Magnus touched Alec's chest above the v in his shirt.

Alec leaned in and kissed Magnus. "By the angel, I love you."
