Calum

I sat in the hospital bed, gently cradling Amber in my arm. Calum sat in a chair next to the bed, grasping my other hand.

"Can...can I hold her?" he stuttered.

"Of course, babe, she is your daughter." I chuckled. He returned it as he slowly outstretched his arms.

"Keep your arms like that, and I'll put her in them." I instructed as I carefully moved Amber and placed her into his arms.

"You got her?" I asked as his arms gently closed around her small body.

"Yeah." He spoke as he cradled her. He slowly moved his hand so that it was cupping her face, making her gurgle slightly. He gently ran his fingers over her features and smiled.

"She's beautiful." He spoke, looking in my direction.

"She looks like you." I smiled, making him return it.

"She has your eyes." I sighed in bliss as I laid back. I looked back at Calum to see a tear falling from his eye.

"What's wrong, baby?" I asked.

"I'm never going to be able to see her." He choked.

"Calum-."

"No, baby, I'm sorry. I love her, and I love you, of course I do, but I'm never going to be able to see either of your faces, I'm never going to be able to see the faces of any of our future kids, or grandkids. I'm never going to be able to see my beautiful family." He whispered, tears falling rapidly from his eyes. I sighed, a tear falling out of my eye too as I leant forward and gently cupped his face.

"It's going to be okay, baby. Don't worry. I can't imagine how you must feel, I'm not going to pretend to know. But just remember that I'm never leaving your side. I'm here to stay, and so is Amber." I whispered before pressing our lips together.

"Thanks, beautiful." He smiled, making me return it.

Luke

I opened my eyes and squinted as the sun shone through the window, lighting up the bedroom. I turned over so that I was facing Luke and saw that he was still asleep. I rolled onto my back and looked at the ceiling. Suddenly, Luke jolted awake as he screamed.

"No! Y/N! No!" he yelled as beads of sweat trickled down his forehead.

"I'm here, baby, I'm here." I spoke as I gently took his face in my hands. His chest heaved up and down as tears fell from his eyes. I was used to this by now. Luke was completely blind and would often have nightmares about waking up alone and not being able to see, because I was his eyes.

"It's okay, Luke, I'm here, I'm here." I comforted. He sighed heavily, wrapping his arms around my waist tightly and burying his face in my neck.

"Y/N...Y/N..." he mumbled.

"I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere." I whispered as I ran my hands through his hair. His breathing got more even gradually.

"It was the same nightmare...I woke up in it, and you were gone...no trace..." he choked as he gripped my torso.

"I know, baby, I know. It's okay, I'm here, and I'm not leaving your side." I promised.

"I know, babe...I know. I'm sorry." He spoke, looking in my direction.

"Why are you apologising?" I asked.

"I'm fucking useless. You should get yourself a guy who can actually see, and isn't a waste of fucking space." He spat at himself.
