Calum

I yawned and rubbed my eyes as my mum and I stood at the gate at the airport. I looked at my watch, sighing as it read 2:45am.

"Remind me why we're doing this again?" I mumbled, looking at mum and rolling my eyes at the "Welcome to England!" sign that she was holding.

"Because hosting a foreign exchange student can be brilliant. Your dad was the foreign exchange student that stayed with your grandparents and I. You never know, you might be able to stay in touch with this boy." She smiled, wriggling her eyebrows at me and making me cringe.

"May I add that you and dad are divorced." I muttered.

"Stop raining on my parade." She tutted as the plane doors opened. People started to flood out, mum looking around to spot the boy.

"That'll be him." She smiled. I looked around and my eyes widened as I saw him.

"Wow." I breathed. He looked around, the blond streak in his otherwise brown hair flipping over his equally chocolate eyes. He looked at us and smiled.

"Mrs Y/L/N?" he asked as he walked towards us.

"That's me. Calum Hood?" she asked.

"That's me." He nodded as he extended his hand.

"How lovely to meet you." She smiled, shaking his hand. He returned it and looked at me.

"Who's this lovely lady?" he smiled at me. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.

"This is my daughter, Y/N." she spoke.

"Nice to meet you, babe. The name's Calum." He smiled, shaking my hand.

"Fuckboy, I see." I mumbled.

"Y/N!" mum exclaimed.

"No, it's okay, Mrs Y/L/N, plenty of people don't like foreign exchange students." He smiled.

"Okay. Well, we best be going, I'm sure you're tired." She returned, taking one of his bags. I sighed as I followed behind them.

"So, am I sharing your room?" he asked, smiling at me.

"Ha, no. I have a brother, you're in with him." I scoffed.

"That's okay. I'll just sneak in." he smirked, winking at me before turning back to my mum. I scoffed again but bit my lip in an attempt to suppress my smile.

Luke

I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Morning, love." Mum spoke from the table.

"Hmm." I mumbled as I poured out a cup of coffee.

"You shouldn't drink that stuff." Dad spoke.

"I'm a seventeen-year-old girl who only got four hours of sleep, I don't care." I muttered as I sipped my coffee.

"Morning." Luke smiled as he appeared in the kitchen.

"Morning, Luke. Did you sleep okay?" mum returned.

"Yeah, really well, thanks. It's a lot quieter here at night than in Australia." He chuckled. He looked at me and smiled. I rolled my eyes and sipped my coffee in response.

"What?" he chuckled.

"It's eight in the morning, you're a teenager and you're way too smiley." I mumbled.

"Sorry." He laughed.

"Y/N, Luke is going to school with you today." Dad spoke.

"Okay." I nodded, downing the rest of my coffee and picking my bag up.

"See you later, Mr and Mrs Y/L/N." Luke smiled, grabbing his bag.

"See you later, Luke. Keep Y/N in check for us." Mum returned, making me roll my eyes.

"Will do." He chuckled as I opened the door.

"Move your ass." I mumbled.

"Okay." He chuckled again. We headed out of the door and started to walk.

"So, what's school like here?" he asked, smiling down at me. I shrugged.

"It fucking sucks." I mumbled.

"Why's that?" he chuckled.

"Well, I'm not exactly popular. I have friends, don't get me wrong, but we're the music nerds. We spend our lunches jamming in the music room." I spoke.

"Y/N, that's what I am." He smiled. I looked at him.

"What?" I asked.

"At home, my friends and I spend our lunches jamming out in the music room. You're my kind of people." He smiled. I returned it.

"Well, you're welcome to join us." I shrugged.

"I will do, thanks." He smiled.
