Calum

I walked into the café and went up to order. I paid for my coffee and sat down, getting out my study notes and books. I sighed as I looked up to see a young guy, no older than me, staring at me. I smiled at him, him quickly returning it. I looked back down, focusing on my work. A while later, I looked up again and he was still staring at me. I smiled slightly again. He returned it but it then died. I stood up and went over to him.

"Hey, can I help you?" I asked. He looked up, his eyes widening slightly before he sighed and shook his head.

"Are you sure?" I checked. He nodded before writing something on his pad of paper and showing me.

"I'm sorry, I'm mute :(." I read aloud. My eyes widened as I looked at him.

"I am so sorry." I sighed. He smiled and wrote something down again.

"It's okay, you didn't know :)." I read, making me smile. Suddenly, I got an idea.

Can I sit down? I signed. He raised his eyebrows.

You know sign language? He signed.

Yeah. I signed, making him smile.

Sure. He signed. I sat down.

I can't believe that you're finally talking to me. He signed, smiling.

I'm sorry that it took so long. I signed.

It's alright. He returned before smiling at me.

You want to do this again sometime? He signed.

Sure. I signed, returning his smile.

Luke

I opened my eyes and noticed that Luke wasn't in the bunk. I opened the curtain but I still couldn't see him. I climbed out of the bunk and looked down the bus. I walked down and Luke quickly wiped his eyes as I sat down next to him.

"What's wrong, baby?" I asked. He shook his head.

"Babe, I know you, I know when you're upset." I sighed, moving the strands of hair out of his face. He looked at me before sighing.

I feel useless. He signed. I frowned before placing one leg over his lap so that I was straddling him.

Why do you feel useless? I signed.

I can't sing, I can't talk, I can't even make a sound. He signed.

Why are you thinking about this? I signed.

Because it's true. I love you and I appreciate everything that you do for me, but you can't keep me from the truth. He signed, looking down. I placed my finger under his chin, making him look up at me. I leant in, gently kissing the tears off of his skin and making him smile.

"You are amazing, babe. You're amazing at so many things, and talking is a tiny thing. You don't need to talk and sing to make a difference, okay? You wouldn't have as many fans as you do if people thought you were useless." I reassured. He smiled before kissing me.

Thanks, babe. He signed.

Any time. I signed.

Michael

I walked into the music department, looking for my teacher. I walked into her classroom and looked around. Suddenly, I spotted a guy with bright green hair and a guitar sat on his lap, staring at me.

"Hey...do you know where miss is?" I asked. He shook his head.

"Okay. Are you new here?" I asked. He opened his mouth to speak before pausing, sighing and shaking his head.

"I'm sorry, did I offend you?" I asked worriedly. He shook his head and gestured for me to go to him. I did and he got out his phone, typing something out before showing me.

"No, I'm not new, I just stay here most of the time." I read aloud. He nodded before going back to his guitar.

"Are you mute?" I asked. He looked up and nodded.

"Oh. Can I sit down?" I asked. He nodded again and smiled. I returned it as I pulled up a chair and put it across from him.

"You like to play?" I asked, gesturing to his guitar. He typed into his phone.

"Yeah. I can't speak or sing, so I get creative about expressing myself." I read out.

"That's awesome. I sing myself." I smiled. His eyes brightened as he quickly typed something out.

"Sing something." I read.

"No." I scoffed. He typed something again.

"Please?" I read, making me sigh.

"Fine." I breathed.

"I wish that I could wake up with amnesia, and forget about the stupid little things." I sang, making him smile as he typed something out.

"You're good." I read.

"Thanks." I smiled, making him return it.

Ashton

I walked into the cafeteria and lined up to get my food. I looked around, looking for Calum, Luke and Michael. I got my food and walked over to the table.

"Hey." I smiled as I sat down with my tray.

"Hey." They all greeted. Suddenly, a guy that I didn't recognise sat next to me and smiled at me. I returned it.

"Hi. You new here?" I asked, making him nod.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"His name is Ashton." Luke spoke. I looked at him.

"He can speak for himself, Luke." I scoffed.

"He can't, actually. He's mute." Calum replied. My eyes widened as I looked back at him to see him chuckling.

"I'm so sorry." I winced. He shrugged, smiling at me.

You know sign language? I signed.

Of course. He signed, smiling at me.

Cool. We can talk like this then. I signed.

Definitely. He signed, chuckling.

Hey, there's a gig that I want to go to this weekend, and none of the boys want to go, you want to come with? He signed.

Sure. I signed.

Awesome. He signed, smiling again.
