Author's Note: Hello, lovelies! I may be dating myself here, but does anyone remember that one Hannah Montana album with the Click Five song on it? Well, this story is what happens when that song gets stuck in my head for a few weeks. Enjoy!

"Oh, by the way," you told your boyfriend while the two of you sat across from each other at your usual table in the café, "I...have to go out of town for a few weeks. Work stuff. I'm leaving on Thursday."

You kept your tone casual, but you couldn't help cringing on the inside. You always did – every time you had to lie to Levi. And while you could tell yourself this particular statement wasn't technically a lie, it built off one.

When you'd first met, you'd told Levi – just like you told everyone else – that you worked as a translator. It explained your odd hours, as well as why you occasionally had to travel to different cities or even foreign countries. You could back it up, too – you spoke three languages fluently – so no one ever asked too many questions.

But in reality, you were a pop star known worldwide as Masquerade – an allusion to the mask you always wore over your face to conceal your identity. The scheme had been a joint one between you and your manager, Rico, and it allowed you to enjoy the privacy of a normal life. Years in, she was still the only one who knew who you truly were.

"Don't worry about it," Levi muttered. He took a sip of his tea, then added, "I actually have to go out of town on Thursday as well. Also work stuff."

You nodded, internally grateful that Levi's schedule was as crazy as yours. It made you feel less guilty for leaving him for prolonged periods. He worked as a bodyguard for high-profile clients, and because those people wanted bodyguards they knew and trusted rather than having different ones every time, they'd often pay Levi's travel expenses, so he could join them anywhere in the world.

"I assume Miche's going with you?" you asked, referencing the only one of Levi's coworkers you'd ever met. The guy was huge – six-foot-five with muscles like a tank. Despite your faith in Levi's own chiseled muscles and combat skills, you felt an extra layer of relief when he had Miche watching his back.

"Always does," Levi grumbled.

The conversation lulled while you both sipped your tea. Not for the first time, you mentally debated telling Levi the truth about your double life. You trusted him, knowing he would take your secret to his grave. However, when you'd broached the subject with Rico, she'd shut you down.

"Come on, please? Levi would never tell anyone, even if we broke up. He's not that kind of guy."

"Right. Do you know how many celebrities before you have spilled their secrets to their partners, thinking the same thing? And guess how many of them had their lives ruined."

"But –"

"No buts. You agreed to this, remember? Not just for the mystique, but to keep your normal life. And don't give me those puppy-dog eyes – I'm only looking out for you." Rico sighed. "I'm your friend, you know? I just don't want to see you get hurt. So please, promise me you won't spill your identity."

"...Yeah. Okay."

Ultimately, you knew you had the final say, not Rico. However, she was your best friend. You didn't want to upset her by revealing your secret, especially when you knew she only had your best interests at heart. And...once you told someone, you'd never be able to take that back.

So you sipped your tea and stayed silent.

When Thursday morning arrived, instead of going to work as a translator, you left for a combined tour with the band No Name. Your manager and theirs had worked the whole thing out, thinking it'd be good publicity to play off the fact that both you and the band hid your identities.
