Sorry for the late update, bloody shanks. I was still contemplating whether or not this one's a good plot😅

By the way, if you speak Latin, I apologize in advance if I get some words wrong. I just use Google translate, but please, feel free to correct me in the comments!

Anyway, enjoy reading!✨

The rays of the sun shone through the trees in the Deadheads. The creek, that was silently flowing smoothly down to the rocks sparkled as the met up with the water.

The Gladers were done with their work for the rest of the afternoon. They had the time to walk around the Glade doing anything but their jobs. Everyone was out in the open whereas Y/N slumped herself on a tree branch that was thick enough for her to lie down on with her right arm dangling by the edge while her other rested on her stomach.

It was her usual place to be instead of waiting for the runners to arrive back in the field in front of the doors. She preferred that rather than standing with the boys, who were all sticky and because of their smelly dried up sweat.

Y/N closed her eyes as soon as a gust of wind made its way towards her, letting her get more relaxed than ever. She was beginning to fall asleep.

Although, she soon opened her eyes again when she heard someone calling out her name in a whisper. "Y/N.." The voice drawled, making her sit up from her position.

"Who's there?" She questioned before looking down below her, thinking that her friends were only messing with her. She could've recognized them by their voice.

The thing is, she'd never heard of that particular voice before.

"Y/N..." It called her again, this time in a singsong tone.

Abruptly alarmed, Y/N climbed down the tree and looked around. "You can stop now!" She chuckled nervously, still believing that it could be Minho who was pranking her.

She could here the voice's cackling circling her. Yet Y/N couldn't see a figure. She could only feel them getting closer to her right ear.

A low growl was whispered right next to her ear. "Follow my voice, Y/N.." The voice said to her. "Follow my voice."

Y/N couldn't help but follow it. Now, she knew to herself she was smarter than this and she shouldn't have obliged, though she was curious as to where this voice would lead her to.

The voice lured her closer to the depths of the deadheads. The very dark corners of the humongous grey walls, to be more precise. Until she found herself looking at a clay figurine of a nine tailed fox lying on the ground.

Y/N picked it up to analyze it. It was the size of her palm with illuminating blue swirls etched in every inch of the the fox's physique, especially on the tails. The figurine had a smug-like look on its face that match its black base colour. The look of it fascinated her.

"Break it."

Her gaze of awe was broken once the voice lingered through her ears again, urging for her to smash it against a hard surface and let it shatter. Yet she paid no attention to the noise that was buzzing in her ear anymore. She wanted to keep it instead of following what the voice desired.

Once again, the voice let out a low growl. Though, before it could speak up again, Y/N heard Newt, her boyfriend, call her. "Y/N! Love, where you?" He yelled all the way from the shallow parts of the deadheads. Y/N noticed the sun was already setting. It meant it was time for dinner.

"I'm right here, blondie! You go on, I'll catch up with you." She replied as she ran away with the figurine that she claimed to be hers from now on.

****

Y/N was just in time to reach the queue. She'd guess that Newt waited for her as he was the last one falling in line. "Hey." She greeted, kissing his cheek as she grabbed her plate.

"Hi, Love." Newt grinned, "Seen anything interesting from the deadheads today?" He's the only one who understood why Y/N goes to sit alone in the woods. He understood that solitude was her way of relaxing herself with her problems. She loves him for that.

After she grabbed her cup of water she answered Newt, "As a matter of fact, I did. I found this little figurine just lying around the ground. It looked really pretty, so I decided to keep it." With that, she showed him the figurine she was holding to Newt.

Newt hummed at her interestingly. He has always loved listening to her talking about her day. "It looks cool." He said her, following her to their table.

"I know right?" She grinned before putting it back in her pocket. Y/N couldn't deny that at all. Although that ot creeped her out that she was hearing voices, she still believed the look of the nine tailed fox was very admirable. It was hard to just ignore it.

After they had their dinner, Newt gave Y/N a good night kiss before they went to their own rooms in the homestead. Y/N took off her thin denim jacket, leaving her in her T-shirt once she placed the small figurine on her makeshift bookshelf where her books given by the Creators are placed.

Y/N yawned as she took her shoes off and lied herself down on her hammock. Instantly, she was falling into a dreamless sleep.

Soon enough, once she was comfortable in her position, the voice was back again. "Psst! Y/N!" It yelled in a hushed tone.

Once again, she was wide awake. Y/N was beginning to get irritated by that voice she's been hearing. She just wanted it to stop. "Break the fox, Y/N." It cackled. "Break it."

"Stop talking!" She muttered under her breath, squeezing a pillow over her head as if the voice would stop pestering her from doing so. Its creepy cackling was getting into her nerves.

Soon, the voice started chanting incoherent words into her ears. "Chao,"

"Rixa,"

"Angor."

"Chao."

"Rixa."

"Angor."

I blared and echoed in circles. It kept Y/N awake all night long. She couldn't handle it anymore. Thus, she concluded to that if she breaks the little fox figurine, all the whispering would stop. So, she desperately snatched the item and harshly dropped it on the floor.

Now that she had done it, she went back to sleep, thinking that she had silenced that little voice that was pestering her.

Little did she know, that everything she had though of, was the exact opposite of what it meant..
