Two weeks ago I learned that I could compete in this years state competition. I was competing in the duet category this year with Branden. This would be different for me as I would always compete in the solo round. Branden and I would be preforming to the same song that we used a few weeks ago at the recital. We changed the routine up a little bit to make it better.

Now that it was officially summer break I was hoping to spend some time with Branden outside of dance rehearsals. Our relationship has been rocky for the last few weeks. I think dancing together has put a strain on our relationship. A few days ago Branden pulled a muscle in his arm. Luckily it was just a muscle strain and not anything worse. He is still able to compete thankfully.

A few days ago in practice

"Oh my god. Are you okay?" I asked Branden

"I think so." Branden said

"Do you need me to take you to the doctors office?" I asked

"No, I think I just need to ice it." Branden said

Then Branden and I went back to his house. He iced his shoulder and it seemed better. I stayed with him for a little while since his mom and sister were not home at the time.

"You do not have to stay with me. You can go home if you want." Branden said

"I want to stay with you." I said

"Deylia, I do not need a babysitter." Branden said

"I am not babysitting you. I just want to spend some quality time with my boyfriend." I said

"We have spent a lot of time together lately." Branden said

"When was the last time that we were together outside of dance and school?" I asked

"I don't remember. It was a long time ago." Branden said

"Exactly my point." I said

"I don't understand what you are trying to say." Branden said

"I am trying to say that dance is interfering with our relationship." I said

"If you think that then maybe we should go back to being just friends." Branden said

"Are you saying that you don't love me anymore?" I asked

"No Deylia, I will always love you but our friendship comes before romance." Branden said

"Branden, is something bothering you?" I asked

"Kelsey and I talked to our dad on the phone for like 2 minutes the other day." Branden said

"Isn't that a good thing?" I asked

"No." Branden said

"What did he say to you?" I asked

"Not much. He just said that he was sorry for leaving and not being in our life for like three years." Branden said

"Did he tell you why he left?" I asked

"He said it was complicated but he regrets not being in the life of Kelsey and I." Branden said

"Do you believe him?" I asked
