Chapter 26 : It's gossip time.

Third person point of view

Elijah fiddled with his sleeves as he spoke. " My mom gifted it to me ". Joshua couldn't get rid of the grin on his face. " Nice ". Elijah pulled the sleeves up. " I actually didn't wear it but she was upset so I had to comply ". Joshua nodded. " Cool ". " Not really ". Joshua scoffed.  " Come on. You know nothing about my mom. She is such a savage all the time ". " Really ? I would like to meet her then ". Elijah smiled. " You will definitely like her. Because she has that sassy side reserved only for me ". 

" Aye~~ Really ? " Joshua sat up properly before speaking. " I can give you an example. Once there was a party during my college days. I dressed up my best that day. I clicked a few pictures and sent them to her. Guess what she said ". Elijah shrugged. " That you look good ". Joshua scoffed. " I would've been on cloud nine if she said that. She said I look like I was dumped with dough ". Joshua slapped his own forehead and Elijah laughed. " Really ? " 

" I still have the chat as proof ". " Wow ". " I know right. She also said I look like some pale ghost in another photo ". Elijah chuckled. " Maybe because she doesn't like to praise her own son. She doesn't want you to become arrogant ". " Meh~~ What a bullshit reason. Tsk ". Joshua shook his head. " But still, that is totally savage ". " That is what I said ". Elijah smiled. " By the way, you want to have the pancakes ? " 

" I forgot about them. Bring them ". Elijah got up and walked to the kitchen. " They will be cold ". " I don't care. Just get them ". Elijah gave the plate to Joshua. His eyes lit up when he saw them. While eating he remembered that he forgot to tell about Alex. " Also there is something else I need to tell you ". " What is it ? " " I met Alex by chance today ". " Oh wow ". " Yeah. So while was waiting for the elevator.... " 

Joshua told all that happened. " What do you think ? " Elijah thought for a while. " You say he sounded anxious ? " Joshua nodded. " Maybe someone important ". " It wasn't respect he had for the other person, but more like fear ". " Then ? Who could it be ? " " I am not really sure about who it might be. I find it suspicious though. That is for sure ". 

Elijah nodded. " How about this ? Try putting yourself in his shoes and try thinking ". Joshua rubbed his chin. " Considering a few factors like his position, wealth and all, who can scare me ? It might be a creditor or loan shark or even a gambler. If it is family issues then a kidnapper. Or maybe they have some secrets which shouldn't be said out loud ? But the chances are high for it being one of the first choices. What do you think ? " 

" You might be right. He might owe someone money, so they asked him for it. It is not really impossible ". " It gives me a bad feeling. I don't want it to have anything to do with the company ". " I feel it does ". " WHAT ? " Joshua almost dropped the plate. " Why are you so anxious ? It is not your company, is it ? " " But if something goes wrong...ahh no. I don't want to jinx it nor do I want to go searching for a new job now. I pray for it to not happen ". 

Elijah chuckled. " But no one can guarantee it right ? " " What do you mean ? " " I mean you don't know what they are actually doing or what actually happened or is happening. We can't be sure about a lot of things ". " Now that you say it like that........ " Joshua tilted his head, unsure about it. " I mean I wasn't there, so I don't know if it is like we see it ". " I think it is ". Joshua said a little worried.  

" What do I do ? It does seem like something is going on ". He let out a sigh and continued. " I kind of feel bad. I don't know how other companies are like but ours is definitely good. I never faced a single problem being there for a few years now. For something to happen to it.......... I don't like it ".  

" There is something you can do since you feel so loyal ". Joshua looked up. " What can I do ? " Elijah smiled a little playfully. " How about you look into it and save your company ? " Joshua's eyes went wide. " Huh ? What ? Save ? Me ? What can I do ? " Joshua turned to Elijah. Elijah rubbed his chin. 

" About what you can do we will see later. But for now you should decide if you are really willing to do it ". Joshua continued eating without saying anything. " I am not sure ". Elijah rubbed Joshua's head. " It is just a thought. Don't think so much. Take your time and think it through. There are other ways ". Joshua nodded and gave a small smile.

When they went out for dinner, Joshua was still thinking about it. " Snap out of it already. Just leave it if you don't want to. I mean it isn't all that important, that you are using your brain so much. I just said it in the moment without much thought and we are not so sure ". " Actually, like I told you I feel like there is something up and I doubt all three of them. I was wondering what the other two might be doing. It gives me a feeling that it is definitely not anything near nice ". 

 Elijah nodded. " So ? " " I will do it ". " What ? " " I will save the company ". Elijah raised his eyebrows. " You will ? I mean you really want to ? " Joshua nodded with determination. " I don't think it is beyond my limits. So I want to take it as a challenge ". Elijah nodded. " Nice. You are so brave ". Elijah rubbed Joshua's hair again. Joshua moved away. " Don't do that ". Elijah chuckled. 

" But why are you so interested ? " Joshua asked looking at Elijah. Elijah smiled. " It is fun. So much drama ". Joshua laughed. " You re acting like a middle aged lady who loves gossip ". Elijah shook his head smiling.  " You have time tomorrow ? " Joshua nodded. " Yeah, I do ". " Then mind coming with me ? " " Where to this time ? " " There is someone I need to meet ". " Wow ! This is a surprise. Who is that ? " " You will know when we go tomorrow ".

My BR gave some theories for this chapter. 😂 I can't reveal them because my BR knows more. But I liked them all. 😍
