Zuri's POV

I sleepily rub my eyes and yawn, waking up from bed. My search for a job yesterday, initially wasn't looking promising. I was bounced from the telecom company and the textiles too, making me lose the hope of getting a job. I wandered aimlessly around for hours till I came across a huge building with a broad inscription, Chapman Electronics.

I easily identified it as the famous electronics company that was known in every household for decades now, producing quality and affordable electronics for the decades now.

I came to later find out the company was owned by Zachary when I was asked to see the boss. You could imagine the surprise on my face, coming in contact with the very person who offered me a job and saved my life too. He didn't want to interview me but hire me straight up.

I felt it wasn't right, I should get employment based on my capabilities and after much coaxing, he granted me an interview with a few colleagues in order for it not the biased and yass! I got it.

I'm now going to be Kai's assistant for some time till his permanent one returns from her six months leave and afterwards move to a new department. The job has flexible terms, I get a salary not as high as my former one but good enough to make us survive and I can take a break anytime I want to. It comes with free insurance and incentive bonuses and vacations to any country of my choice with my family, isn't that marvelous?

I'll be sure to go with my mother and Wendy to the Caribbean one summer break and enjoy the sunny beaches. For now, I gotta get up from my nap and prepare for the dinner I have with Kai in an hour.

After our lunch yesterday, he told me he enjoyed it and would want to do it again with me tomorrow. I accepted after asking if he had a special lady in his life to which he replied with a no. I had no problem with it as long as no lady will come towards me and attack me like Mr Luigi's model girlfriend did to Paris.

It's a shame he was framed for something which wasn't true and Paris had to suffer the most for his actions. It will teach him next time not to mess around with people just because he is the boss.

Rolling my eyes, I went into my bathroom and take a quick bath. I've slept in and there's only an hour left. Thank God I'm not one to keep long in dressing up and I don't own much dinner dresses so I'll be good to in choosing one out of the two I have. That's one advantage of owning less clothes, no time wasting and headache in getting the right one.

I was in front of my closet, searching for the dresses when Wendy burst into my room, smiling and wiggling her brows at me. She slumped her thick body on my bed and turned towards me, "mum said you have dinner with your boss tonight, since when did you two become... you know?"

"There's nothing going on between us. It's a friendly dinner, nothing special so why don't you get your ass up and help me out here. I don't know which to wear, this or that?" I asked, spreading the dresses out for her to see. She's the fashionista between we two sisters so she gotta help me nail it right tonight and look presentable. I can't be looking like a caricature and follow a celeb like Kai, a sexy and dashing Greek god to a renowned restaurant, it's not good for the image, they say.

"Wear the blue, it brings out your color most and pair it with the heels I got you for your birthday last year." She told me throwing  me the dress.

I caught it in my hands and stared at it for sometime, it's the dress out of the two that I don't really feel good wearing. It's tight, knee length and brings out my curves that I don't want anyone seeing and tempting men, let's face facts, my body is what others pay money to get and I particularly don't love flaunting it.It causes unnecessary attention from the opposite sex.

I've got no choice since my fashionista sister of a stylist chose it for me, applying lotion on my body and getting into panties, I took my bra and attempted to put it on when Wendy's voice stopped me. "You don't need a bra sis."

"It's a strapless bra, it ain't gonna show."

"Your dress is a backless halter neck  which doesn't use a bra." She facepalmed and rolled her eyes dramatically.

"All clear miss fashionista." I said in a mocking voice, she continued rolling her eyes at me as she got off the bed and towards my shoe rack.
I watched as she fished out the black gladiator ankle wrap heels she gifted me with.

"Since your dress has a slit that isn't too deep, these heels will be best for you." She went into my suitcase this time around and took out a simple layered bracelet, "something to touch up your outfit, you don't need a necklace the halter neck is too much of a drama already."

I gaped at her, taking the bracelet from her. I knew Wendy was a fashion lover but not to this good to know what's right and perfect for a dress or an outfit. Wow! I looked at my reflection in the mirror and I was so in love with it, she has styled me so right, I look like I'm attending a high class fashion show. I'm looking so expensive and not like my bank balance right now. "Thank you so much love, I suggest you pursue a fashion course cause this talent can't go to waste."

"I was born ready for the fashion world sis but the only problem is, can we afford me going to a fashion school in this modern US? You know I can't go to just any community college for it." Her eyes lost the glint in them as she sat down and broke into tears.

She has a point though, going to a fashion school is not an easy thing especially for people like us who're trying to make ends meet. It's expensive but worth it. Seeing her sitting down there and being sad got me sad too, if that's what she wants then it's my right as an elderly sister to do so. We have to pursue what our hearts wants no matter what, that's called passion. "Look at me Gwendolyn, if I'm to slave myself to work all the years of my life just for you to go to an A list fashion school in order for you to become who you wanna be, baby sis, I will without thinking twice. So wipe that sadness from your face and smile more, its our only sun in these dark days of our lives."

"Thank you so much Zuzu, I don't know what we would have done without you in our lives." She flung her arms around me, pulling me into a hug, "I love you very much and I promise to make you and mum proud of me."

"I don't doubt that baby, I know you will and I love you more than you can think of me." We broke from our sissy hug, I smiled at her and wiped her face with the back of my hand, "you look ugly when you cry Wendy." I said that to lighten up the mood and it sure did.

She giggled and wiped away the small traces of tears from her face, "I know I know, that why I hardly cry. Now go go, you don't want to keep Mr Gianni waiting for him to turn back into mean boss."

"Yeah right, I'll see you tonight if you ain't asleep by the time I get back." Little do you know I no longer work for him. I hate that I'm lying to them but I've got no choice considering the circumstances that led me to quit. Maybe I can tell them the truth now that I have a new job with the Chapmans.

"See you, wow him with your cuteness Zuzu." She winked at me and chuckled, handing me my phone and purse. I shook my head and closed the door to my room, leaving her in there to use my old laptop to watch fashion videos, that's what she always does.

I took my time, taking the stairs lest I fall in these heels. It's a little slippery and I pray I survive this night without tripping and disgracing myself in public. If I do I'm surely going to pray for the ground to open up and swallow me.

The door bell rang and I was down in time to open it.

I couldn't find any nickname for Zuri than Zuzu😍.
