"I wish I was," Rowan whispers.
We'd been sitting under the water for the past 15 minutes as he explained everything his father told him.
Look, I know my dad isn't the kindest person but there's no way!

I need to talk to my brothers.
"Rowan, are you gonna do it?" I ask him.
"Do what?"
"Threaten my father."
"Well- well no since I just told you."

His head immediately shoots in my direction and his eyes widen.

"Look, I know what it's like to not have a parent and to be alone and if there is any chance that your family could reunite, I think you should do it."

"We'll figure it out, we always do." I shrug.
The bell rings meaning we have to head to the fifth period but I just decide I want to go home.
After everything I just heard, I need to fucking think and there was no way I would be able to pay attention to what my teachers are saying.
"Thank you for telling me, Ro," I say as I help him off the floor.
"It's the least I could do."
We both dry off before going our separate ways.
I quickly head over to my car before going home.
Once I'm home I rush over to my dad's office, making sure to check if he's home.
He isn't.
Since my dad is the mayor, he has information on thousands of people on his computer.
So, I quickly logged in before searching for "Jonathan Phoenix".
But to my surprise, nothing came up.
I hesitate for a moment before looking up "Asher Phoenix".
That's when a few articles come up about Alyssa's brother.
All about what he did to the church but nothing about his father.
I try one more time by looking up "Alyssa Phoenix"
And just like before, a bunch of stuff comes up about her brother, her mom, and her tennis championship wins but nothing about Jonathan.
