There's a moment in your life when you question everything.
The moment Lennox collapsed on the floor, I felt my whole world fall apart.
I may be the oldest but Lennox was always the responsible one.
The one who always made sure we were okay.
The one who stood up for us.
He was always the person I looked up to the most.
And I hate myself for never telling him that because now, standing in the middle of the hospital waiting for the news of whether he'll be okay still lingers in the air.
"Cole...do you want to sit down?" I hear Alyssa ask from behind me.
"I'm okay."
She lets out a sigh before walking in front of me.
"Talk to me." She whispers.
"What if he doesn't make it?"
"Don't think like that."
"How could I not think like that Lyss?! He was fucking shot!" I yell, causing her to flinch.
"Fuck, I'm sorry butterfly."
Instead of replying, she wraps her arms around me and pulls me in for a tight hug.
"Tell me about your favorite memory with him." She says.
God, there are so many.
"Probably when we first met."
I remember it like it was yesterday.
"Guys look!" Tori gasps while pointing at the door.
It's a husband, a wife, and a little boy.
"They already have a kid, they probably just want a daughter." I shrug.
"Don't get your hopes up, Tori." Damien mumbles while continuing to build his lego tower.
A few minutes go by and I can't help myself, I look back over at the couple.
They're talking to Shannon, the woman at the front desk.
I freeze when I make eye contact with the little blonde boy hiding behind his father's legs.
He looks around before awkwardly waving.
I wave back.
While his parents continue to talk, the boy slowly begins to walk away from them and toward me.
