Chapter40: Demons of the past
Footsteps were heard coming from the hallway leading the sleeping chambers. They weren't ones belonging to an individual, no, they belonged to a group. Five people were making their way towards the extra rooms located at the end of the hallway. "It won't be too long now, your majesties. Your room is right this way." The blonde ninja claimed, leading them through. The empress and emperor nodded at that before turning to the girl was that accompanying them. The white haired girl shifted at the sudden eye contact. "Anything wrong, Harumi?" The empress started with a mild concerned expression.

The girl, "Oh no, I'm alright. Don't worry." denied her adoptive mother's suspicions. Being reassured that her daughter was well, turned her head back around. The group continued to follow Lloyd until they reached the room. He unlocked it without any struggles. The room was quite large, three separate beds despite a married couple being present, there was quite a bit of decorations, planks as the flooring and the walls were made out of wood as well. "I apologize if this isn't big enough but this was the biggest bedroom in the bounty." The green ninja rubbed the back of his head.

Turning his eyes towards the vase on the drawers, "What are you talking about? This will do us some good." The emperor said. Feeling a tad reassured by his comment, Lloyd chuckled nervously. However, his nervousness began to all fade away when, "Don't about it, Lloyd. My parents and mr. Hutchins will find it suitable. The bounty has great rooms." Harumi approved. That made the green ninja smile even more. "Thanks Rumi." He told her. A bit of silence grew between the group as the royal family were inspecting the place where they will be staying for the next few days. Hopefully the furniture were to their liking. There wasn't much in the first place.

"Well, I'll leave you to settle in. I hope you have a great time here." Lloyd politely made his way towards the room. His gloved-palm was placed on the handle until the emperor spoke up with a serious tone. "Master Lloyd, Defeat the current emperor and bring the throne back to us." His request made the boy flinch slightly. Here comes the pressure once more, everyone just seemed to rely on the green ninja, huh? How was he supposed to stop his father after being put into vulnerability? Lloyd knows for a fact that he couldn't charge at him without a plan in mind, without his friends. He winced internally before he replied without showing much fear. "Yes, I'll try my best."

Harumi looked away when the abrupt topic came up, she knew how sensitive Lloyd was when it was about his father. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard the boy's voice call to her. "Rumi, are you coming?" He offered for the girl to join him. The girl thought for a second. There was certainly an option to heal the rift between her and the royal family now, should she take that chance to explain herself? "No, it's alright Lloyd. I'll stay here for a bit." She returned to him with a small smile. With that, Lloyd nodded. "I'll be out on deck if you need me." He told her before heading out. Harumi exhaled.

The white haired girl was sitting beside her father. "My daughter, you look ravishing as always." The emperor complimented. Upon hearing that, a small smirk formed on the lips of the jade princess. "Why thank you, your smile still looks as nauseating as always." She shot back at him, mostly taking it as a joke. That is, "Your majesty, still keeping the ferocious personality?" Hutchins raised an eyebrow at the sass. The emperor however, dismissed Hutchins' inquiry with a hand raise. "We're mostly kidding around, don't worry too much." A few chuckles were heard coming from the emperor and empress, Harumi just giggled silently. "Seriously, my daughter, how have you been?"

"I've been doing alright I guess? I apologize for what happened at the palace." Harumi was suddenly prompted by the emperor's question. Upon hearing that, the royal family all looked her way. Right, mentioning the palace was a major slip-up from the jade princess. She shouldn't have done that. Now, questions coming from her parents and Hutchins will come flying at her. "Palace? It wasn't your fault, it was those SOG members that recked everything." The empress refused to accept the self-blame her daughter was putting on herself. She didn't understand what was Harumi's relationship with the SOG or if she's even involved with them? Why was she saying these things?
