Hank Voight x daughter reader

It was so nice to be back on your home soil again, you had been away for so long. After Al had passed your relationship with Adam broke down you needed to get away for a bit. However a few months soon turned into 2 years and there was one person you couldn't wait to see, your dad.

You finally managed to teach him how to video call so it wasn't like you didn't speak because he called you every night and you'd both share a glass of whisky whilst you played your guitar, something you used to do when you was home. However as nice as video calling was you needed a hug off your old man.

No one knew you was coming back home so you couldn't wait to see there faces. There was two ways you had thought of, one surprising them at the district or head back to your dads and wait for them all to finish the shift, it was Friday night and every week everyone came round to Hank's this was something that started after Alvin passed.

Walking into the house you grew up in, you couldn't help but smile. It smelt like home. Not bothering with your bags you dumped them in the hallway before pulling your guitar out of its case and grabbing a glass and a bottle of whisky. It was only 4pm so it wouldn't be long before everyone got here so you lit the fire and started playing.

As Hank walked into the house he couldn't help but smile as he saw your converse abandoned in two different places, as well as your suit case and duffel bag sat in the middle of the hall alongside the sounds of an acoustic guitar and your soft voice coming from the garden.

"She's home" he grinned not bothering to take his jacket off as he followed the sounds.

Hank came to a halt as he stood on the decking holding his fist up so the guys would stop.

"Remember when you drew that heart on the back of my car in the dust that settled from the fire fly drive down the riverside. That's a memory still burning in my mind after all this time, even though the spring rains came and washed it dry and I know that we were young but I haven't felt that in so long" you sung staring into the fire not realising that your dad was stood behind you.

Letting out a soft sigh, Hank pulled his phone out taking a photo of you. He knew how you still felt about Adam but only you could make the decision on what to do.

"And I want to be in love so bad I want to find that thing that we had. I want to make it last forever, this time I'm not holding back. Yeah, I want to be in love so bad, like Hepburn fell for Tracy. That star crossed kind of crazy, no one else can understand. Yeah, I want to be in love so bad" you carried on until a familiar voice made you put your guitar down in an instance, jumping over the back of the garden sofa and running into your dads arms.

"Dad" you breathed "I missed you"

"I missed you to kiddo" he whispered hugging you tight. "It's been far too long"

"I'm back for good now though" you whispered pulling away from the hug.

"Really" dad smiled tears forming in his eyes.

"Yeah really" you mumbled pulling the sleeves over your hands as you made eye contact with Adam.

"It's good to see you bug" Adam grinned but you could see the sadness in his eyes as well as your heart skip a beat as he called you his nickname for you.

The night went on with you all sat by the fire, laughing, joking, drinking and you playing the guitar. It was like nothing had changed but in reality everything had changed.

Soon enough it was just you and dad sat by the fire.

"So how are you really?" He asked topping your glass up.

"If I'm being honest dad, I still feel lost" you sighed staring into the fire. "Seeing him again just made all them feelings resurface and it's breaking my heart again because I know I'm the reason we aren't together any more"

"You still love him don't you?" Dad asked placing his hand on your knee.

"I never stopped" you half laughed rubbing the back of your neck.

"Give it some time kiddo" he smiled softly at you "maybe now you are back you can talk things through and get back to how you was"

"Maybe you are right" you sighed as you rested your head on your dads shoulder "I know one thing for sure. It's damn good to be back home"
