Hope pressed her nose to Penelope's head, smelling her shampoo. Penelope slept soundly, safely wrapped in Hope's arms. She'd fallen asleep almost instantly when Hope pulled her in and started stroking her hair softly.
Things felt like they were back to normal. Malivore was gone, Jade was back, memories were returned. Things could be good again. Hope could let them be good again.
But Hope knew her father was still locked up in the school somewhere. She couldn't close her eyes and let go of all her worry until she knew he was taken care of. But she couldn't let go of Penelope either, and that meant that all Klaus business would be waiting until morning.
