"The winner of this Shokugeki is...Torrey Waldenpond!" Isshiki announced into the microphone. The crowd went berserk. WOOOH! Everyone had heard rumors of the new transfer students first-day feats. They were no longer just rumors; he'd taken down a student council member on the grand stage. Most students wouldn't dream of facing one, let alone achieving victory.

"Can you believe it? The thrilling match ends with a major upset! It was a hard-fought battle for both sides, but in the end, Torrey takes the cake! As per the agreed-upon conditions, Momo will be teaching Torrey her super-secret baking techniques. Although she could probably use a few lessons from him!" Urara announced cheerily, feeding off the crowd's emotions. When she looked at Momo, however, she was met with a glare that could melt a stainless steel pot. Gah! Too far, Urara! Too far!

"Well, uh, hehe, that concludes our matchup for today! Remember, I'm your host, Urara Kawashima! See you all next time!" She struck her signature idol pose, flashing the familiar peace sign.

As the students made their way to the exits, the noise that had rocked the stadium moments before began to die out. The event had lived up to its hype, but with the excitement now over, students would return to their day-to-day lives. Some would carry the energy with them as they returned home to practice new dish's inspired by the competition. Others had exams to study for. It didn't matter which contestant they had pulled for; the one thing these students had in common was their desire to get better.

There was one section that stayed longer than the others: The Torrey Fan Club. How the hell did they make those shirts so fast? And where did they get my picture? It's kinda flattering, I guess, in a creepy sort of way...

            "Yeah, Torrey!"

"We knew you could do it!"

            "We love you!"

Hearing their encouragement, he waved to his fans and wore a smile that mirrored the one printed on each of their shirts.

            "OH MY GAWD!"

"Did you see that? He waved at me!"

"Not a chance! That was for me!"

Torrey held back laughter as he made his way from the judge's table back to the kitchen. He was actually looking forward to the simple cleanup tasks. The entire day had been a blur, and he welcomed a break from all the action. Before he could begin, however, he felt a tug at his sleeve. He looked down to see his competitor, who was shifting her feet nervously.

            "Hey."

"Hey Momo-Senpai. That was some match."

"Yeah," she said, scratching the back of her head. "Yeah, I guess it was. Umm..."

            "What's up?" Torrey asked.

"Uggh...you're really gonna make me ask. Can I..."

            "Can you...?"

"CAN I PLEASE TRY A BITE OF THAT CAKE? So I can judge for myself, of course."

            "Absolutely! Here let me just..."

"Wait! Make sure it has the malt topping!" Torrey cut the piece that she wanted, handed over the plate, and waited. She took a quick bite.

"GWAAAH!" Momo shrieked as happy tears slid down her cheeks. "It's sooo good! The flavor's so bold! What a well-paired combo of chocolate and liquor! I thought it was just a foolish attempt to step up the flavor, since there's no way it could have competed with mine, but this is good. Really good." It didn't take long for her to finish the piece, and afterwards she stood there trembling.
