"Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! Today we have like, a totally exciting matchup!" Alice said into the microphone.

            "Booo!"

            "Where's Urara?!"

            "We want Urara!"

"Gosh, you don't have to be so rude about it! I'm doing her a big favor right now!"

            "Go home!"

            "Nobody cares!"

            "We only love Urara!"

"Hmph. At least let me explain the deal first! Obviously Urara can't do her job- because she's a contestant in today's surprise Shokugeki!"

            "Ohhhh."

            "Sorry Alice!"

            "You're doing a great job!"

"Thank you! That's more like it. As I was saying, we have an exciting matchup between first-years Urara Kawashima and Megumi Tadokoro. The theme? Souffle! Are you guys ready? Okay, let's get started in 3...2..." Alice stopped as Urara quickly ran from the kitchen to the stage. She whispered something into her ear.

"Whoopsy! I almost forgot to introduce the judges! Before we begin, let's take a look at our lovely panel." The spotlight shifted its focus from Alice to the scorer's table.

"First up, you might recognize him from his super boring lectures, it's the Chef that Doesn't Smile, Mr. Roland Chapelle! Oh lighten up, professor. This is supposed to be fun!"

"Second, it's the Totsuki alumn and owner of the Japanese restaurant Kirinoya, Chef Hinako Inui! Wow, what a high-profile judge! How did we manage to snag someone so famous on such short notice?"

"I just happened to be in the area, and when I heard that my sweet little Megumi was going to participate in a Shokugeki, I couldn't resist the opportunity. Good luck, my little dove! Oh, and don't worry, I'm a perfectly impartial judge. May the best chef win!" Hinako said into her microphone.

"If you say so Ms. Inui! And for our final judge- it's the new transfer student, Torrey Waldenpond! Isn't he just a dreamboat?" The girls in the crowd gave a healthy round of applause.

"So far so good, I think. Can I do the countdown thingy now?" said Alice, looking over to Urara. She was clearly angry at Alice, but nodded her approval anyway.

"There you have it folks! The esteemed judges, the fiery contestants, the unusual theme! Oh, and the wager is kinda personal...so I have to keep it a secret. Let's get this thing started in 3...2...1...start cooking!"

************************************************

Megumi was nervous, but her confidence was higher than ever, thanks to the help of her friends. Working together with accomplished chefs like Soma and Torrey, she'd recently learned that her biggest problem in the kitchen was underestimating herself.

With a clear vision of the completed dish in mind, and the knowledge that she was fighting to protect someone she cared about, Megumi was fired up. She couldn't stand the thought of Torrey spending time with that Urara-surper.

She preheated the oven to 325 degrees. Let's do this!

Back at the fishing village, her mother used to make a delicious Tuna Fish Souffle. Having helped make it on more than a few occasions, Megumi was confident that she could recreate the dish here to earn a victory.
