Cessie's POV ...

I've been up here for who knows how long, and I'm deeply disappointed in myself. How could I have done something so cruel? Did I really kill so many people? Honestly, I have no idea what I've done, but it feels like I'm consumed with guilt over it.

If only my memories from before being in this place were still intact, maybe then I would know what I've done.

I keep replaying Minho's words in my mind when we were in the maze. He told me not to say anything that would make them suspicious, but I just blurted it out in front of them and some of the Gladers.

Could it be the reason why Minho and Newt suddenly ignored me?

I wince in pain as I try to wipe away the dried blood on my lip. From above, I hear the sound of footsteps on the stairs, accompanied by a slight shaking. It seems someone is climbing up.

"There you are," Alby says as he reaches me.

I offer a weak smile towards Alby, who sits down beside me, asking a few questions.

"Why didn't you go to Clint and Jeff? They were looking for you to treat your wound," Alby says.

I let out a small laugh.

"Don't worry, Alby, I'm fine," I say, feeling a bit sad about what happened.

I look at Alby, concerned for Ben's well-being. "Is Ben okay?" I ask, my worry evident in my voice.

Alby stays silent, staring at me. Why is he looking at me like that?

"I hope so," Alby finally says.

"What did Ben tell you?" he asks again. I glance at the maze walls and then back at Alby.

"He said he saw me there. In that place before you all were sent to the Glade," I reply, lowering my gaze.

In truth, I have been racking my brain trying to make sense of it all. Something I don't remember at all.

As I scan the Glade, my eyes inadvertently meet Gally's gaze from down below.

The man seemed to observe my every move.

Alby stayed silent, digesting every word I spoke.

"Is Ben okay?" I ask.

"It's called the Change. Anyone stung by a Griever goes through it. Ben's condition is deteriorating rapidly," Alby explains.

"The sting has spread to his brain. You could say that Ben is already dead, even though he's still breathing," Alby continues.

"The Keepers had a meeting earlier, discussing several things," Alby explains. I look at him, knowing where this conversation is heading.

"They discussed the incident earlier and everything Ben said," Alby says with a sad smile.
