Start Of A New Friendship?

     Chase saw Mayor Goodway hugging her chicken, while Chase was sitting in the distance, deadpanning at the two.

We spent over two hours following her trail and we found her somehow locked up inside Mayor Goodway's car Chase thought. He and Mayor Goodway literally had to follow her scent up to Jakes mountain and back. I swear, if that chicken escapes one more time, I'm gonna make teriyaki out of it. Chase sighed and suddenly, his stomach growled at the thought of food. Chase then looked ahead and saw Mr. Porter's Café down the street and Chase smiled and jumped back on his cruiser and drove to the restaurant.

He parked his truck in front and walked into the front door, but before he could enter, he heard a shout coming from inside.

"What do you mean I can't come here!?"

Chase heard a familiar voice and was even more shocked when he walked in and saw Mayor Humdinger and Mr. Porter looking at each other like they were about to have a wrestling match. Mayor Humdinger is the arch-nemesis of the Paw Patrol and he was also the leader of the Kitten Catastrophe Crew and a huge rival of Mayor Goodway and Ryder. Chase couldn't keep count of how many times Mayor Humdinger has caused trouble for Adventure Bay since they had to stop him so much. But now, Chase wondered what Mayor Humdinger was up to this time, so without butting in, he was listening to their conversation.

"Seriously? After everything you've done at Adventure City, I don't even wanna sell you food!" Mr. Porter said.

"What!? What have I ever done?" And both Chase and Mr. Porter deadpanned at that.

"Seriously? You tried sabotaging my pie and Adventure Bays pie eating contest by sprinkling salt into my pie." Mr. Porter said, leaving Mayor Humdinger speechless.

"Y-Yeah, but still, I'm offering you actual money! C'mon, I haven't eaten anything the past two days. No tricks, nada!" Mayor Humdinger said as he held out his hand with cash. This was something that caught Chase off guard. Mayor Humdinger isn't the guy to usually follow rules or play fair. Normally, he would try to get things for free, even if it was something simple as food. So seeing him offering to pay money was new to the police pup.

"Sorry, but not today." Mr. Porter politely denied with his arms crossed and Mayor Humdinger groaned and walked out of the door, only then Mr. Porter noticed Chase.

"Oh! Hello Chase, how're you?" He asked.

"H-Hi, Mr. Porter. What was that about?" Chase asked, curious on what the argument was about. That question made Mr. Porter glare at the door with a groan.

"That guy wanted to buy a bag of apples and I refused to give him it." Mr. Porter said, while placing the bag in front of Chase. Chase only frowned in confusion.

"What? Why?" Chase asked.

"C'mon, you know out of everyone, about what he's done around here. He's the number one enemy of Adventure Bay too. Besides, it's out of character for him to actually pay for stuff. He must be scheming something." Mr. Porter suspected.

Chase didn't respond but only was surprised. Sure, Mayor Humdinger isn't the person that anybody liked. He caused so much trouble and especially at Adventure City and he knew how much everyone in Adventure City and Bay disliked him. Sure, Mayor Humdinger is their enemy, but he also helped the Paw Patrol out a few times. A couple of missions wouldn't have gone successful without his help.

"So, what can I get you today?" Mr. Porter asked, bringing Chase out of his thoughts. Chase then opened his pup-pack and checked how much money he had. The Paw Patrol doesn't usually get much money, it would usually be special holidays or from the merchandise that they would sell. But that would go for the bills of all the buildings and machines they used. Chase sighed at his small amount and knew that he would be spending all of his money left.

"I'll get that bag of apples." Chase said and handed the money.

Outside

Mayor Humdinger angrily walked back to his small vehicle cage with his kitten inside and saw his kittens eat the fish and sighed.

"Do you guys mind if I take one?" Mayor Humdinger asked and the kittens only hissed at him.

"Of course. You guys are so troublesome." Mayor Humdinger glared at them and sat on the cage and took out his remote.

"Yo!"

Mayor Humdinger heard and turned around only to see a bag of apples flying towards him. He instantly gasped and caught it before it could hit his face. He stared at the apples in shock and looked at the one who threw it towards him.

It was Chase

"I think you were about to forget those." Chase said with a smile, referring to the apples and was about to walk back to his cruiser but Mayor Humdinger was now suspicious.

"Wait, why'd you buy these for me? What're you planning?" He yelled out and Chase turned to him with a look of confusion.

"Y'know, I should've asked you that when I saw you in Porters Café." Chase said, but Mayor Humdinger sighed, as if he didn't wanna argue and Chase was surprised by this new reaction.

"Whatever, take these back. I don't need your pity." Mayor Humdinger said and was about to hand them back at Chase but was interrupted by his voice.

"Pity? Dude, c'mon, don't be such a debbie downer. Just take them, I don't really care." Chase said and Mayor Humdinger stared at the apples and looked back at Chase.

"Why'd you buy these for me?" He asked calmly.

"Meh, I kind of know what it's like to be hungry, and it sucks," Chase laughed, "so just take them." Chase said with light shrug and turned back around to walk back to his cruiser until his stomach growled. Chase mentally groaned and Mayor Humdinger seemed a little bit surprised by the sound and so he looked back down to the apples, he sighed and reached into the bag.

"Hey. Catch."

Chase heard and turned around to see an apple flying towards him and quickly, Chase caught it with both of his paws.

"Wait-wha-?" Chase was confused.

"You're hungry too, right?" Mayor Humdinger asked and then his stomach growled, making Chase smirk.

"Seems like you are too." Chase said, making Humdinger smirk back.

Without saying a word, Humdinger took out an apple and both Chase and Humdinger ate their food together.
