He didn't expect that kind of question at all from her, much less she remembers that moment. Chase stared at Skye for a couple seconds with slightly open eyes and looked back at the view of the beach. But he didn't really have a problem answering because it was a simple answer.

"I'm...not too sure myself. But I remember that he wanted to sell me for money. Not really sure for what though." Chase shrugged it off and that's the reason why Skye frowned a little bit at the German Shepherd. He's talking like it's no big deal.

"So then, why did he abandon you if he wanted to sell you for money?" Skye asked and Chase slightly frowned this time as he glanced at Skye. He didn't really want to answer these kinds of questions, but at the same time, what kind of harm can they do? And on the other paw, it was a small detail of how he was treated his whole life.

"Well, the guy who he wanted to sell me to wouldn't make the deal, so he brought me back to the car, drove off and that's it." Chase explained, once again, shrugging his shoulders.

Skye's frown turned into a sad one. The biggest thing to her was that he sounded like it was no big deal.

"I'm sorry about that, I didn't know." Skye softly apologized but Chase only chuckled.

"Meh, it's nothing really. Now that I think about it, it was probably best that he abandoned me. Living with him would probably be hell." Chase slightly growled.

"But...the last time we met, he looked like he regretted everything that he did." Skye pointed out and Chase frowned a little bit.

Flash Back

"Here, let me help." Jamison kneeled down as he tried to help Chase up. He glanced at Jamison who stuck out his hand and the German Shepherd used his paw to slap his hand away.

"Don't touch me!" Chase roared out.

"Why don't you let me help? You can't take these guys alone." Jamison suggested, once again, trying to get through to the angry pup. Chase only glared at him.

"I think you've helped me enough! Get away from me!" Chase now yelled, making Jamison flinch.

"Look, I know I've messed up in the past-."

"You think!?"

"W-What!? What're you doing?" He yelled out in anger as he tried to leave Jamison's grasp. Just then, Jamison jumped to the side, dodging a blast of fire that was shot at him.

"Look, I know how much you hate me and you have every right to hate me. But I can't let you get yourself killed in this sort of situation! Just let me help." Jamison begged this time.

"I know that, but he can regret all he wants, that won't change anything," Chase began and Skye only listened, "He knew what he was doing and everything he did was for himself. I don't know if I can ever forgive him for that." Chase said in a much softer tone this time.

Silence filled between them and Skye lightly smiled at a memory. Of course, she wanted to know more about him, but there's more than just his changes. So she decided to back off from why he changed but to talk more.

"Remember that time when we had to convince Alex to go to the dentist by showing our fears?" Skye asked and Chase remembered that day which made him giggle.

"Yeah, it took some time for him to go to the dentist." Chase said and Skye giggled a little bit.

"Well, he wasn't the only one." Skye chuckled this time and surprisingly, Chase chuckled too.

"If you don't mind me asking, why were you so afraid of the dentist?" She asked and Chase's laughter died down as an emotionless face came onto his expression.

"W-Well..."

Flash Back

A young Chase was being hung by his paws from chains, completely trapping him, allowing no escape. Beaten and starved, the shepherd felt like he could die any second. Just then, he heard the door open and the shepherd looked up to see Lady Keres walking in with her usual dress, creepily smiling at the shepherd.

"Well, how's my little bundle of joy?" She asked but the small Chase didn't respond, only stared at her with fear.

"Aw, don't worry. Today's punishment won't be hurtful...well, to me at least." She giggled as she picked up a surgical gag and seeing that tool in her hand, Chase quickly closed his mouth.

"Now then, don't be a big baby, open wide." She said in a creepy, motherly sweet tone. But the young pup wouldn't fall for at as he knew what torture was coming. Lady was getting more impatient as she growled.

"I said...OPEN WIDE!" She hollered as she contacted her hand across Chase's cheek, allowing a huge clap to echo the room. The slap caused Chase to open his mouth and Keres quickly reacted by forcefully and painfully placing the surgical gag in his mouth, keeping it wide open.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't close his mouth.

"Just for that kind of action...I want payment." Lady Keres growled as she walked back up to the table and picked up large forceps. Chase watched in horror as he couldn't control the tears anymore. He tried to beg, but nothing came out.

"The teeth." She giggled as she menacingly and slowly walked towards the small puppy.

And no one, outside of the house could hear the screaming agony of the poor German Shepherd.

Flash Back Ends

Chase winced a little bit at that memory.

"Before that, my last dentist was a little...too rough." Chase sighed which made Skye frown a little bit, but she understood. She then watched as the police pup stood up.

"I-It's getting a little late, let's head back to the Lookout." He stated which made Skye sadly look at him but she stood up along with him.

"Okay, but before we leave, can I ask you one last thing?" She asked and Chase mentally groaned inside, but he still looked at her dead in the eyes.

"What's up?"

Silence before Skye asked her question. She hesitated a little bit because she felt dumb for asking this kind of question, but considering she couldn't figure it out, she needs a hint.

"What do...what do you mean when you asked me if I wear a mask?"
