Behind The Mask

     The next day came, everyone went to sleep a little while after they picked out the names for Secret Santa. Skye was in her pup-house while the others stayed with Chase, along with her parents. 

It was early in the morning, and Skye could already hear them walking around a little bit, followed by Chase's coughs. Out of everyone I get, it's gotta be him Skye sighed out, talking about who she got for Secret Santa.

Flash Back

"Y'know what, it's useless speaking to you about this. Goodnight." She said bitterly and walked off to the other side to join her sleeping parents.

Flash Back Ends

She frowned at the memory, as since then, she's been trying to avoid the shepherd. But when he got sick, she immediately got worried for him. She sighed.

"Do you wear a mask?"

She could hear his voice repeating that question in her mind.

Flash Back

"What? What does that have to do with what we're talking about?" Skye asked, still hinting her impatience and irritation.

Silence. Chase just stared right into her magenta eyes. A look of disappointment made its way to his face.

"Until you figure that out, I won't talk to you about this anymore." Chase stated harshly.

Flash Back Ends

"What does he mean by that?" Skye asked herself as she kept repeating that question in her mind. That question just stuck with her. But why would he ask that? What did that have to do with anything that she wanted to talk about that night? She sighed as she began getting irritated just thinking about it.

Just then, she heard a knock on her door. She was confused until she finally opened and was surprised to see Everest peeking in.

"Hey Everest, what's up?" Skye asked and suddenly, she saw Sweetie, Liberty, Sylvia and Ella walk up behind her.

"C'mon, let's head out for a little bit." Everest grinned, leaving a confused Skye.

A Few Minutes Later

The six girls walked along the sidewalk on Adventure Bay with scars around them and a couple of them wore hats. Everest planned out to have a girls day out and luckily, the others agreed to it.

"So, what do you guys wanna do?" Ella asked in an excited tone while wagging her tail.

"Well, I was thinking we could head to the shops to see the gifts we could pick out." Liberty said.

"That doesn't sound so bad, what about you?" Sylvia agreed as she looked at Sweetie who huffed.

"Hm, I don't really care." She said in her royal tone, which made Sylvia frown.

"Man, you are a tough one to work with." Sylvia said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sweetie asked with a bit of annoyance and Sylvia smirked.

"Meh, nothing much." She just shrugged, irritating Sweetie a little more.

"Skye? What're you thinking?" Everest then turned to Skye and the Cockapoo began wondering.

"Uh, I'm not really sure. I'm okay with whatever you guys decide to do." Skye said with a cheerful smile.

"Well? Let's go shopping around. Anyways, who did you get for Secret Santa?" Ella asked, anxiously wanting to know who the girls got.

"It's called SECRET Santa. We're not supposed to tell you." Liberty deadpanned and Ella laughed.

"I know that, but it's not so bad to break the rules once in a while." Ella laughed, while the other sighed. Ella has been a little bit of a cheeky one, but still fun to hang around with.

"I'm surprised that you came though," Skye mentioned as she looked at Sweetie. "I didn't really think you'd choose to come." She finished and Sweetie sighed.

"Please, it wasn't me who wanted to come. I had to come with my owner because she wanted to go here for the holidays." The small white pup complained, earning deadpanned looks from the others.

The Lookout

Chase was all alone right now, Ryder and the others were upstairs, working on some plans while they left the German Shepherd to rest. He hasn't gotten better, if anything, he felt much worse than before.

"Ugh." He silently groaned as he wrapped his paws around himself. The pain, the heat, it sucked. But he has experienced much worse before. It wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Sweat filled his face as he kept breathing in and out quite loudly.

He gritted his teeth as his stomach felt like it was exploding from the inside, his head was aching terribly.

Suddenly, the sick pup could hear the static sounds coming from his pup-tag. Confused, he tried his hardest to squint his eyes open and stare down at his glowing pup-tag, which seemed to be glitching out, as if someone was hacking right into it.

What the-? He thought as for next minute, the static got worse and worse until it finally stopped.

"Now I see."

Chase's eyes slightly widened as he heard the Overlords voice through the pup-tag. Has he hacked into his pup-tag?

"W-W-W-W-What?" Chase stuttered roughly, now confused even more.

"It appears that you've strongly inherited his genes now, have you, pup?" He said through his pup-tag, "But you're still inexperienced, you aren't able to unlock your true potential. If only you join the right side." The Overlord stated.

"And I...can help you."

Silence, Chase just didn't respond, but he didn't have to as a few more static sounds came and the Overlords booming voice came back.

"Heed this warning. The Ominous Ten are on their way. Tomorrow, by tonight, you better show at Adventure Bay Park, or else you'll witness the destruction of your entire home."

And then, the statics came back, but this time for good and then they stopped. The Overlords voice was gone, and the static completely. Everything was silent in the room. The German Shepherd sighed as he rested his head against the pillow.

Please, please, please just let me sleep. Chase begged in his mind, his voice was cracking as his sudden shock disappeared and was soon replaced with anger and pain.

What was the Overlord planning this time? The Ominous Ten? What's he talking about now? Chase wondered, but now he has a difficult decision to make.

He won't get better, if anything, he might feel worse, but at the same time, he can't risk the lives of innocent people. Ominous Ten? What plan did the Overlord have up his sleeve now?

Everything just happened so fast. He first got the Flu and now the Overlord is sending the Ominous Ten after him? The sick pup wondered if he'll ever get a break.

This was the Overlords warning and Chase's decision to make.
