Carson's POV

"Dearly beloved," the booming and arrogant voice of the black-and-red-clad priest said as he stared down at the crowd. "We have come here today to celebrate not only the arrival of the Moon Wolf known as Carson DuBauer to be the respective Luna of the Dark Moon Pack. We have come to celebrate the incoming power as Carson comes to us in his own volition to accept the fact that he is to be sacrificed for our Alpha Ryan Zallenda to ascend to the heavens and bring in a new era to this age."

I gulped, taking a few deep breaths to still my racing heart.

"Though he has been deflowered by those nine fools who were blindly falling in love with what's not their's, Carson knows that he and his unborn will be of better use to our Alpha- giving up their lives to ensure that our pack will be the one to be stronger and unstoppable from all of those who dare to challenge us," the minister went on. "Carson and his unborn will be the Lunas and children to our Alpha even in death as they hand over the throne given to them by Carson's Mother- the Moon Goddess."

There were a few murmurs that silently dissipated as quickly as they came. I had a few suspicions that they weren't too happy with what Ryan was playing.

And I bet that Mom's getting ready to shut this mess down.

The time is almost ready, I heard her say in my head. Trust me, my child. Trust yourself.

"Now, I must ask if there is anyone in this congregation who believes that this blessing of the marriage and sacrifice should not be given at all. If anyone here believes that this union and ceremony should not be held at all, let them speak now and face the wrathful consequences to come or else, forsaking all reservations, forever hold their peace."

Other than a sneeze, silence remained.

Damn it to hell.

Ryan turned to me, a giant grin on his face. "Carson, I promise you that even in death, we will be the endgame of all couples," he said. "You have already accepted that you are to be my spiritual husband and forfeit all of your powers for the sake of my plan to rule the human world and the supernatural world with an iron fist. Even so, I promise you that you will be treasured by me and loved by many who will come. Songs will be performed in your name and children will learn of your legacy. Thank you, my love. Thank you for making all of my dreams come true and making the world a better place."

He handed me what looked like a glass of wine but the liquid inside looked way too thick to be that. If anything, it was definitely...

"Blood," I said. "Is this blood?"

Ryan nodded. "The blood of ten omegas that dared to defy me yesterday and voiced their oppositions to this ceremony," he drawled, smirking wickedly. "All you need to do is drink this and feel your powers slip away before I-"

BOOM!!!!!

Ryan Zallenda was suddenly struck down by a giant bolt of lightning, his body now burnt and unmoving.

"Who dares kill our Alpha?!!!" Gregor, the head Beta boomed angrily before turning his glare to me. "YOU! You evil son of whores! You did this!"

My eyes widened. "WHAT?! No, I didn't," I protested.

SLAP!

I reeled back from Gregor's backhand. "You fucking little shit," he seethed angrily. "You completely ruined everything for us! You killed my best friend and the pack's leader! I should've killed you before the ceremony. Now, I might as well take over the pack. Unlike Ryan, I have no use for you other than to finish what Ryan planned. And as for those brats that you're carrying, I'll make sure to rip them out of-"
