After finally getting away from the awkwardness at home, I went to the Grill with Jeremy.

"Is everything okay?" he asked when we sat down at a booth.

"Yeah, why?" I asked.

"It's just you seemed different today," he said.

"Oh, right," I said.

I explained what happened with me and Elena.

"I am so glad I didn't kiss you today," he said.

"Oh my God," I said. "This morning before class, Stefan kissed me."

I shuddered.

"Stefan kissed you," he said blankly.

"It was gross!" I said. "I almost gagged. Not that Stefan's disgusting or anything, it's just, it's Stefan! He's like a brother to me! It was just wrong! Next time I switch bodies with someone, I hope they aren't dating my brother."

"Next time?" Jeremy questioned.

"You'd be surprised at what I'd do if I was drunk enough," I said.

He was looking behind me with his eyebrow raised.

"What's Damon doing here?" he asked.

I turned and saw Damon walking towards us.

"I need to talk to you," he said.

I motioned for him to talk.

"Alone," he added. He looked at Jeremy. "No offence Gilbert."

"Can't it wait till later?" I asked.

"Yeah, I need to talk to you now," he said.

"I'll be back in a second," I said to Jeremy.

I got up and followed Damon over to another table.

"What's up?" I asked, sitting down.

"We have a problem," he said.

"The forest animals took Stefan hostage and are threatening to eat him?" I asked.

"No," he said. "I was at a Founders Council meeting today, and it turns out there have been reports of missing people, who have been showing up in the woods with their throat torn out. In other words, there's a vampire roaming around munching on humans."

"Any idea who is it?" I asked.

"Nope," he said. "Not a clue."

"Why are we keeping this hush hush?" I asked, looking over at Jeremy.

"Because if Gilbert Junior over there finds out, then he'll probably tell Elena, and then Elena will probably get all dramatic and worried, then she'll tell Stefan and yada, yada, yada..." he said. "Anyway. My point is, if people go around talking about this, the human muncher will probably get scared off, and therefore we can't find them and kill them. We need to tell as less people as possible."

"How are we going to find out who it is if we can't ask around?" I asked.

"I didn't say we couldn't tell anyone," he said. "Just keep it to the vampires only, and don't give out to many details."

"When am I meant to go interigate these people?" I asked.

"Now, preferably," he said.

"Why me?" I asked. "Can't you get Lexi or someone to do it with you?"

"No, because she's a vampire, and it could be any of the vampires we know," he said. "You're not a vampire, so I can trust you."

"What about Stefan?" I asked. "He wouldn't kill someone."
