Jeremy looked at Elsa and his entire body started shaking. She was still lying on the operating table, her head that had just been operated on was now covered up.
Jeremy slowly walked towards Elsa, his heart pounding out of his chest and his footsteps growing heavier with each step.
When he reached the table, he gently touched her still swollen face. Just then, someone knocked on the door.
"Jeremy? It's me, Victoria... Can you please let me in?" she called out with a soft voice.
Jeremy quickly walked over to the door and opened it. Victoria walked in happily. When she saw Elsa on the bed, showing no signs of life, she wanted to jump up and down with joy. But instead, she made a sad face for Jeremy.
"Jer, who knew Gwen had such a serious sickness this whole time? Maybe that's why she didn't tell you, she didn't want you to know. She must not have wanted you to see her like this, so let's just go home," she said with a devastated voice.
She wanted to pull him away, but Jeremy quickly pulled his hand away before she could touch him.
"Jeremy, what-" Victoria started to say.
"I didn't open the door for you to tell me such dumb things... I opened the door to ask you one simple question, and I want the truth," Jeremy interrupted, his gaze becoming sharp and full of anger.
"Did you ask someone to change Elsa's data?"
Victoria didn't expect Jeremy to ask her something like that. She was taken aback, but quickly recovered and blinked innocently. "Jeremy, what are you talking about? Change Gwen's data to what? How could I even do that?" she asked in shock. "Did you find out her data was changed by someone?"
Jeremy continued to stare at Victoria as she explained herself, giving her a look that felt like he was staring into her soul.
"You better not know anything about this," he warned.
Victoria felt a shiver run down her spine. "Jeremy-"
"Now get out!" he interrupted.
Victoria looked at Jeremy, confused. "Jer-"
"Get out! Now!" The scary tone in his voice made Victoria jump in fear. She quickly ran out of the room and Jeremy locked it again.
She went to the reception where the McConnells, the Rowlands, and Lorna Callahan were waiting for her to come back with Jeremy.
What was going on with Jeremy? No one understood why he was acting like this. Why was he suddenly holding onto Elsa's body with so much protection?
