I’m a new trainee lifeguard and I’m here to experience what it’s like to work on Bondi. My whole life I’ve always wanted to be a lifeguard. I’ve trained as a lifeguard on my local beach but my dream has always been to become a lifeguard on Bondi and now my dream has come true.

Today was the day of my first shift as a trainee lifeguard. The sun was shining and it was going to be a good day. I got up and got myself ready for the day. My lifeguard top was on my dresser which was got me excited. I got my uniform the day I found out I was going to be a trainee. I’m absolutely excited for what the day brings. Soon it was time for me to leave and actually go to the tower so I did.

I arrived at the office from across the tower walking in and knocking at the correct door. “Come in.” I heard someone say so I walked in. “You must be Y/n?” The guy said. “That’s me.” I said with a smile. “Welcome to Bondi. I’m Hoppo the boss of the beach. I’ll go introduce you to the others.” He said getting up as we both walked out and into the tower. “Guy’s this is Y/n she is the new trainee so don’t be so hard on her.” Hoppos said. I smiled and waved. “Hey, Im Jethro.” The long blonde haired guy said. “Mouse.” The other said. “Singlets and this is Harries.” They said. “There are some more guys out on the beach which you’ll probably meet later today.” Hoppo said. “NIce to meet you all.” I said getting smiles from them all. I took a seat and had a good conversation with them all. “Hey singlets? I’m heading down on the rhino. Do you want someone to join me?” A guy asked. “Yeah. Meet Y/n. She’s the new trainee.” Singlets explained. “Hi, I’m Tommy.” Tommy said. “Let’s go.” He said as the two of us headed down to the beach. We spent most of the day together and had good conversations.

Tommy and I were sat in the rhino together looking out into the water. Nothing much was happening besides telling people to stay between the red and yellow flags. “Y/n I think you should go out and rescue that girl.” Tommy told me as he pointed out who needed rescuing. “Ok.” I said taking off the famous blue shirt grabbing my board and heading out into the water. I approached the girl who was struggling and helped her onto the board. “Thank you.” She said as I paddle the two of us back to shore. As we got back I got a few claps from people. “Thank you so much.” She said once again. “No problem.” I said as I walked back to the rhino. “Good job out there y/n!” Tommy said as we high-fived. Tommy and I headed back up to the tower where some of the others were in there. “Good rescue out there!” Mouse said as I smiled. “Thank you!” I replied. What a day?! Time for home. Tommy was also finishing for the day so we headed out the tower together.

As we walked out Hoppo was walking towards us. “How was your first day?” He asked. “It was really good. I loved it.” I told him. “That’s good. We’ll see you tomorrow then.” He said with a smile. “Bye.” I said waving and walking away. “Thank you for showing me the ropes of this job.” I said making Tommy smile. “That’s ok. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Tommy said as we parted our ways. This is going to be a great friendship. I know it.
