Singlets - Taco

Vanessa's POV:
Today is a new start for me. I'm becoming, well training to be a lifeguard at bondi. I'm the new trainee this season.  I woke up at 6am and had to leave the house by 7am. I headed into my bathroom taking a shower and washing my hair. That didn't take me long to do. Once I finished getting ready I made myself a quick breakfast then headed out the door bang on 7am.

The beach was about a 15 minute walk from where I live. I prefer to walk as the views are nice and I find it better than driving. My shift was an early one so that's why I'm heading to work early.  As I arrived the beach had a few people on it. The early surfers. "Vanessa!" Hoppo called my name making me smile. "Hey." I said waving. "Ready for today." He asked. "More than ever." I replied with a smile. "Let's go." He said as we both walked into the tower.

We walked in and there was about 4 people in there. "There will be others starting later during the day as some will leave." Hoppo told me as I nodded my head. "Guys this Vanessa. She's a new trainee so I expect you to treat her right." Hoppo explained. "Hey Vanessa! I'm Deano. You'll love it here. It's the best experience you'll live." Deano told me. I smiled. "Chappo." Chappo said shaking my hand. "I'm Harries." Harries said. "Hey I'm Jules. I'm glad we have another girl here as I'm not sure how much longer I could cope with all these lot." Jules said with a laugh as I smiled. I'm glad I'm not the only girl here. We all laughed. "I'll leave you guys to it then." Hoppo said leaving the tower.

Jules and I headed down to the north end of the beach as she was the one showing me around a bit. Once our time was up and some of the others took over we made our way back up to the tower. Jules headed off somewhere and I walked into the tower. There was a guy in there. I hadn't met him before so I assume he was just starting his shift or he was down on the beach. I hope to make some good friends in this job. "Hey I'm Vanessa." I said to a guy in the tower. "Whatever." He mumbled. This is going to be tough. He clearly didn't care. Chappo walked in and the guy walked out taking a board with him and heading into the water. (It's later on in the day). The guy knew he wasn't meant to surf on the rescue boards but he didn't listen.

The guy soon walked back up to the tower and Chappo left again. It was somewhat quiet in the tower. None of the others came in so it was just me and this guy. "The names Taco." He told me. Odd. I smiled slightly. It went silent. "Honestly Vanessa I think you'd be better quitting this job." Taco said. "O-ok." I stuttered confused on why he would tell me that. "You're not the best." He added. "You can't talk much?! You nearly killed someone so why are you telling me that I should quit?" I questioned. He shrugged his shoulders clearly not listening to me. Whatever.

Singlets' POV:
I was heading up to the tower when I heard Taco say something to her. "Honestly Vanessa I think you'd be best quitting this job." He told her. My blood boiled. How could he?' She sounded hurt and then replied back with something which made him shut his mouth. This was when I decided to walk into the tower.

Vanessa's POV:
Taco was being rude. I saw him nearly kill someone with the "trick" he tried to do in the water. Ridiculous move there! I'm not quitting my job because someone wants me to. That's his opinion and not mine so sucks to him. "Hey! What did you say to her?" Singlets said as he walked in just in time. "Nothing." Taco said. "No you need to appologise." Singlets said. "I didn't say anything!" Taco replied rolling his eyes. "So it wasn't you that said 'Honestly Vanessa I think you'd be best quitting this job'?" Singlets question. He heard everything. "I-I." Taco began to say. I raised my eyebrow. "I didn't mean it like that." He told us. "Never say anything like that again. You got me?!" Singlets told him. Taco nodded his head.

Taco walked out of the tower leaving me a singlets alone. "Thank you for standing up for me." I said to him. "I wasn't going to let him convinced our into quitting. You're great at this job from what I've seen so far today." He told me making me blush slightly. "Thank you." I said once again. "Anything for you Vanessa." He said hugging me tightly.
