Before you say anything, I know this song wasn't out in the 1990s, but it's for the book!

3rd Person POV

It was the night before the quidditch final, and Y/n could not be more nervous!

Hermione and Ron were trying to calm down Harry, and Y/n was trying to take her mind off things by singing a song that her mum used to sing to her when she was scared.

"Once I was seven years old," Y/n sang quietly, so no one could hear her.
"My mama told me,
'Go make yourself some friends,
or you'll be lonely'."

People close to where she was sitting looked over to see her singing quietly. They stopped what they were doing to listen to her amazing voice.

"It was a big, big world, but we thought we were bigger.
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker.
By eleven smoking herbs and drinking burning liquor." Y/n song it beautifully.
"Never rich, so we were out to make that steady figure.
Once I was eleven years old, my daddy told me,
Go get yourself a wife, or you'll be lonely."

Most of the common room had gone quiet, listening to her almost silent voice. Y/n was too wrapped up in her song to realize that the room was almost silent.

"I always had that dream, like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I starting writing stories.
Something about that glory, had always seemed to bore me
'Cause only those I really love will really know me
Once I was twenty years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when my life was lonely."

Now the whole common room was still, listening to Y/n's voice grow a bit louder.

"I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
'Cause I know the smallest voices, they can make it major
I got my boys with me, at least those in favour
And if we don't meet before I leave, I hope I'll see you later.
Once I was 20 years old, my story got told
I was writing 'bout everything, I saw before me
Once I was 20 years old.
Soon we'll be 30 years old, our songs have been sold
We've travelled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be 30 years old
I'm still learning about life
My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind
My brother I'm still sorry
Soon I'll be 60 years old, my daddy got 61
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
I made the man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit, once or twice a month
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be 60 years old
Soon I'll be 60 years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can hold me
Soon I'll be 60 years old
Once I was seven years old, my mama told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
Once I was seven years old."

When Y/n finished singing someone in the common room  started clapping, then everyone else joined in.

The girl opened her E/C eyes and they widened when she realized that everyone was listening to her sing. Her cheeks flamed up with scarlet, and she walked over to Harry, Hermione, and Ron, who were also clapping.

"I didn't know you could sing," Ron teased her.

"Shut up," Y/n snapped.

"Alright team," Oliver announced, "on that note; bed!"

Gryffindor team stood up, and made there way to bed.

Hermione followed Y/n up, so when they entered the dormitory it was just the two of them.
