I'll See You Again

"But we're supposed to be in this together" you spoke as your voice cracked, hugging the knight in front of you

"Princess...I know the promise we both made, but this war going on between your father's kingdom and the neighboring kingdom must come to an end, I'm one of the best knights there are right now-"

"And that's exactly why I'm scared! Because you're the best knight we've ever had, the enemy will try to eliminate you first!" you shouted, tightening your hold around him

"Y/N" he spoke softly as he lifted your chin up delicately, "I promise I'll see you again, this isn't a goodbye forever, it's just a goodbye for now" he spoke

Grayson Dolan was the best knight known in the kingdom

He was taken under the King's, your father, wing when you found him picking apples from a tree inside the palace garden

From that point on he worked and trained hard to become a good knight, in order to show the gratitude he had for your father for giving him a place to live

Throughout his long training sessions, you would visit the strange boy

You would peek into his study room to see him concentrated in reading books about wars and strategies

Or you would bring the boy water when he seemed really tired and dehydrated

It was through these little interactions that you and the boy slowly fell in love with each other

Sometimes he would watch as you sat on top of a small hill and read the romance books that would make your heart skip a beat

Now, he had to go fight in a war between your father's kingdom and a neighboring kingdom

"You better make it back alive Grayson, I won't ever forgive you if you leave me alone" you said as you looked up at him, puffy red eyes on your face as the tears streamed delicately down your face

As he started to pull away from the kiss, you quickly brought your hands up to his neck and pulled him back down for a more feverish kiss, one that you let you portray all your emotions, without having to use any words

"Sir! We must get going!" spoke one of Grayson's men

You both pulled away quickly as you broke for air too

"I'll be right there" spoke Grayson, cupping your cheek and looking into your eyes one last time, "I love you" he whispered

You nodded and took his hand that was on your cheek and kissed the palm of it, "I love you too"

With that, Grayson, along with other commanders, led an army of soldiers towards the neighboring kingdom

You cried as you watched him gallop away on the horse your father had gotten him for his sixteenth birthday

Your mom came up behind you and patted your shoulder softly, giving you a worried glance

"Mother" you broke down in your mom's arms

"There, there, everything will be alright Y/N, he'll be back before you know it"

"I just want him to come back safely" you cried

"And he will, he's the best knight in the kingdom and he loves you very much, he'll be back"

Three months had passed since that day, you slowly walked throughout the palace, reminiscing the moments you and Grayson would spend together and trying to hide from your parents because you both thought they didn't know for the love you had for each other
