October 6th, 2017:

It was 11:20pm and Jonghyun had just arrived at the company. He texted me he was waiting outside. I only saw the text at 11:30 when we finished rehearsals, later than expected. I hurriedly showered, changed, said bye to the boys, and ran down to meet Jonghyun who was still waiting for me half an hour later. I walk out the building door and see him in his car. He spots me and waves his hand outside his window. I rush to the passenger side.

"Hi, thank you for waiting," I say, smiling apologetically, "I'm so sorry".

"Don't worry about it, gave me time to just chill," he smiles back.

I take my comb out and start braiding my hair since I hadn't had the time to wash it.

"How are you? It's been a while, I know lots has been happening," he says, driving away.

"I'm good, busy, but managing," I say nodding, looking at myself in my seat's sun visor, and him quickly, "how about you? You've been on tour, right?"

"Yeah, in Japan," he nods as well, "it's been going smoothly though thankfully. We're also working on new songs for a comeback".

"Oh nice," I smile, putting the comb away, "a full-length album?"

"Not sure yet," he responds, "we're just now really sitting down to talk about it".

"Are you working on your own stuff?" I question.

"Sometimes," he replies, "I've been writing a lot, but not sure how many are actually like good".

"What about making it another book?" I say, having loved his last one, "I know fans would love another one".

"Yeah... I don't know," he says unsure, biting his lip, "that takes a lot of work and I don't know if I have enough time and stuff for it".

"Oh, okay," I say a little sadly, "well we'll be waiting patiently".

"We'll?" he questions the pronoun used chuckling slightly.

"I loved Skeleton Flower," I say proudly, "it was so deep and beautiful and well written. I can't wait for more, I'm a Shawol (SHINee fandom) too".

"Well, I'll try to make sure you don't wait too long," he chuckles, looking at me to the road.

A comfortable silence falls as we passed the tall Seoul buildings.

"How are you doing... you know, given this is like... the anniversary," he says cautiously, looking at me with worried eyes as he stopped at a red light, "anniversary is such a bad word, I'm sorry... but you know, with Daeseong".

I looked at him a little surprised. I had been so busy I had forgotten today had been the day Daeseong had barged into my apartment. He had been on my mind recently because I knew he was out there, but he had been on my mind so much in general, I didn't realise the importance of today. No one had said anything about it either, probably in the hopes to protect me. It seemed to have worked so far.
