Today is one of those days you don't want to ever arrive, a day that only contains bad news, a day anyone would despise with all their being, a day that has arrived for me, I never thought I would be writing this in the journal, to think it was to record all of my previous experiences so I could look back to it in the future and remind myself of how things used to be, now I don't even want to do that.

I just want to burn it, to forget it, but it would be wrong, it's not what they would've wanted, but then again, we never saw eye to eye, but still, even after everything I went through, they were my parents, it would be wrong to not go, right? I wonder how Caia took the news, or if they have even told her...

I let go of a breath I didn't even know I was still holding in. My aunt had called me no more than twenty minutes ago to inform me that my parents had died in a freak accident, she only called to inform me, she assumed that I wouldn't go to the funeral because of the rocky relationship my parents and I had, that and because of the academy I was in.

Alas, I told her I would do my best to be there, even if it meant running away. Which is exactly what ended up happening, I left in the afternoon, when classes ended, I had told a friend of mine, Sobaka, what my plan was, he wasn't on board with it, but he said that he wouldn't stop me if it was what I truly wanted, and so I left, without a plan in mind.

Once I left the main academy gates I began walking through narrow alleyways to reach the train station. I wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings when I accidentally bumped into someone. Papers flew everywhere, I quickly proceeded to apologize and started grabbing the papers.

"I'm sorry, I should really pay more attention to where I'm going." She said, in the most angelical tone. I had caught a glimpse of a name in one of her papers, but I couldn't believe it.

"Wait, are you Lisa Serdtse?! The daughter of the Tsar?! I really screwed up this time..." I said, now worried that I might be in some sort of hit list for bumping into her.

"Yes I am, and no need to worry, it was just a simple accident! It's not like something bad is going to happen to you." She said this while giving me a reassuring smile, which was just beautiful, it was a smile that made me forget my worries for a small moment.

"Thank the Gods, but what are you doing around here? And aren't you supposed to always have a guard with you?" I asked, while she gave me a sheepish grin.

"Weeeell, I like wandering around the city every once in a while, alone, it's better that way honestly, by the way, are you by any chance named Volk?" She asked, and I could see a small glimpse of hope in her eyes, as if wishing I was him.

"Yeah, that is me, why do you ask? And how do you know my name?" I said, completely baffled as to why she would know my name.

"It's so good meeting you! I have read about you in my father's files, and you seemed interesting, so I wanted to meet you and see if you would like to talk!" She said very enthusiastically, as if she had been waiting her whole life to have a chance to speak with me.

In that singular moment I had to decide if I would continue to the train station or stay and talk with her, who I hadn't even known for ten minutes. It's as if time had stopped and waited for an answer to this decision.

"Sure! I'd love to talk!" I said, while giving her a warm smile. Afterwards we walked back to where her bedroom was, sneaking past anyone who could've spotted us. Once inside she hid me in her balcony while her guard came to check on her, oblivious she had left her bedroom prior, or that I was in the balcony taking in the view.

It was truly amazing, you could see the entire city from up here, it felt peaceful and refreshing. After a couple of minutes, she pulled me inside, and we sat down on in a corner of the room, where she had a table with chairs. Shortly after we sat down, we began talking, we talked about how incredible it was that we had met on accident, how it was fate that made it possible for us to meet.

We continued talking for hours, I told her of my plan to run away to be with my family, why I was going through the alleyways. Not long after it was late, knowing my situation she offered me a spare bedroom she had available. Not knowing what I would've done if she hadn't offered, I quickly accepted, she helped me get acclimated. We proceeded to go to sleep, not knowing what tomorrow might offer, only hoping that we can continue talking.

FIVE MONTHS LATER

It has been five months since that fateful day, when I decided to run and not look back, yet, I am still here, but I am not complaining, as I have spent  time with Lisa, talking with her, listening to her, about three and a half months ago we decided to get together as a couple, and I have not regretted it one bit, I have enjoyed our time together thoroughly, I pray to the Gods we can continue like this, being happy.

We learned recently that my friend Sobaka was assigned to be her new guard, so we took this opportunity to inform him that I was still here and that we had a relationship and to not inform anyone, absolutely anyone, before he reacted to that, he was happy to see me and told me everything that had happened while I was 'gone', he also agreed to keep our relationship a secret, our happiness continued after that, and as I say again, I pray that it continues.
