You woke up with a jolt, your uniform slick with sweat as your panting filled the silent air. The streaks of sun through the curtains were gone and you blinked, trying to focus your vision. Your chest heaved and your heart was racing as your eyes darted about.

Another flawed escape from reality, not even sleep could help you. You glanced at the time as your blurry vision cleared.

[9:32] It read. You raised your hand to your forehead with a groan and a slight wince. God your body fucking ached.

You'd missed dinner too; it was too late now. Your head pounded and you felt weak in your knees as you stood up, how would you sleep now after sleeping all that time? You felt angry at yourself but blank at the same time. You wanted another escape, it was late. No one was coming to find and if it was Ghost - you were sure he would've filled you in by now.

You bent over, supporting yourself on the refrigerator door, untrusting your legs to carry you. Your blood-streaked and bruised hand reached for another beer. You weren't an alcoholic, you couldn't be in the military, you just ... enjoyed a drink, from time to time. Or rather; every night.

It felt like a medicine, that helped the pain fade, and you fall asleep. Your eyes lingered on the box of beers before you grabbed the whole box, carrying it with unsturdy balance as you took it back to the sofa. You wanted reality gone.

This wasn't an issue, or so you hoped. You'd been doing it for a while, it's the only way you could fall asleep.

You opened another bottle and chugged it without a break, slamming it down on the coffee table with more force than intended. Another. You wanted another, so you grabbed another.

Moree....

Moreee.....

Your brain was feeding you, it wanted to feel something more than this too. You did, you kept drinking, letting the bottles roll as your world slowly started to disorient at slight movements. This didn't scare you; you'd been drunk before. You were good at this, you just awaited the day when your body became so used to alcohol, that it didn't affect you anymore.

Your face felt loose, and your pain was suddenly non-existent as you stood up. Your body wobbled and you felt it, but your eyes moved as if in delay with your body.  A grin danced along your lips as your gaze landed on the clock.

A soft chuckle left you, you felt it in your stomach and heard it. You felt so disconnected from yourself.

'Funny clock...' Your brain thought as your body laughed. Your mouth was slightly agape as you dropped the recently emptied bottle. Your face dropped upon the realization that it wasn't that funny. You sighed and glanced around.

'To the bed'

'Leeeft ... or is this right?'

'That way - nope.. that way?'

'What way - I need a monkey lamp .. hello wall'

From your eyes, it was like you'd just teleported into the wall, but you knew that it was the alcohol. Where were you? The alcohol had led you astray no matter how determined you were for the bed you didn't seem to be making any progress.

You leaned against the doorframe of the bathroom door with a stupid drunken grin on your beaten face. 'Couch. The couch would do' You thought as you stumbled back towards it. The room had a slight spin as you moved, your vision failed you as your body felt the couch, but your eyes weren't there yet.
