You had excused yourself to bed early. Wanting to sleep in preparation for tomorrow. It was around 10pm and you lay in bed with your TV on.

A series playing as background noise while you stared up at the ceiling trying to calm your nerves so you could sleep. This way, even if you did have a nightmare, you'd still have time to sleep more, and it was somewhat of a win win.

You sat up hearing the door open. It was Ghost coming in from the dark hallway. All you had on was the TV for light and you seen him pause.

"Are you awake?"

"I'm awake" you said almost cutting him off. It'd completely slipped your mind about him wanting to talk but his arrival only woke you up more.

"I can go if you're trying to sl-"

"I'm not" you assured him, curiosity already gnawing at you. "You said you wanted to talk?" You urged.

He hummed a response closing the door behind you. "I just wanted to...-"

"You can come sit down ... instead of standing there y'know"

He kept silent and even though you couldn't see him you could tell he was contemplating your offer. After a moment he came and sat down on the edge of your bed, yet you persisted and patted the pillows beside you.

He shuffled up to beside you and from his silhouette you could see he was staring ahead. You picked up the remote and paused the tv.

"Last night-" He muttered. "It's nothing big, just ... an apology for, what I said" He spoke, his voice becoming less of a mumble as you kept silent.

"It was uncalled for and immature and it's been eating at my brain all day, I'm not sure rook. I guess it just came out before I could think about it, it was on the tip of my tongue, and I made no attempts to stop it."

He spoke slowly and his voice was low and solemn like he really meant it. You lowered your head back onto the pillow listening to him as he spoke in the darkness.

"I knew I'd regret it as soon as I said it and I continued with it for no reason, I'm not sure. What happened, not that I'm blaming something else, I know it's me..."

He paused as he thought his next words carefully. You closed your eyes, finding a peace at his company beside you and the bed feeling oddly comforting with a slight weight holding the blankets down, almost simulating that you were tucked in.

"I just don't want there to be a density in the air between us right now while we're on a mission and last night I pushed too far over a feeling I'm not familiar with."

.... "Just, I'm not sure; we could even the grounds, you can go ahead and insult me ... it's not my thing to apologize, just. I know it wasn't fair and equality should be strong within a team, do ... does this, make sense?" He asks.

You nod your head before giving a soft hum knowing he probably didn't pick up on your head nod. His voice was fading out slowly while the sounds of a hum overlapped in the background.

"Whatever was said when ... I was out of it, you can trust that I..."

You made no attempts at keeping yourself awake. Taking advantage of the fact you were falling asleep and grasping it while he remained beside you.

He'd leave and you'd be left awake. You heard his apology; you weren't sure how to feel but it wasn't much like you to hold a grudge. At least he'd apologized and was aware of his wrongs.

You heard the zone of his voice as you fell asleep.

You sat up with a gasp. It was like this the night before too. Something that was almost nightly and usually you'd lie down and fall back asleep, but this was one of those nightmares.
