"Sure" You reply.

"Where is your family?" He asked. You were a little surprised, taken aback by his blunt question. You realized that no one knew you. They did, but they didn't know you.

They had no idea of your background or life before you joined them, and you had no knowledge of theirs either. Soaps, Prices, and Ghosts families were all a mystery to you. Yet, despite your differences in pasts and origins, you were all united as one team, working together towards a common goal.

However, as you delved deeper into your thoughts, you begin to wonder about your team and their backstories, it's not like you were the only one that had experienced hurt and pain. You were all soldiers, there was no guarantee as to whether you'd live to next week or not. Yet fear was never shared.

You never really thought about the others and their backgrounds. It was never something that you particularly concerned yourself with prior to this point. In truth, you were too occupied dealing with your own life and its many challenges.

Perhaps it was due to selfishness or simply not thinking to ask, but their pasts or origins were never something you cared enough to consider. What experiences may have led them here, to fight.

They didn't know you were struggling; how could you tell if they were? "My family?" You repeated.

"Yeah" He confirmed.

You felt a rising painful lump in your stomach.

"My mother left when I was younger and my father isn't here anymore, any relatives around I don't know" you said simply, a very short and brisk reply. He stayed silent for a minute.

"Is that all?" He asked.

You nodded "pretty much yeah."

.... moments of silence passed, and you thought about asking him the same question.

"You have any drinks?" He said turning to you.

You nodded "mm yeah, downstairs."

He thought for a moment his lips pressed into a thin line as he started walking back into you room with you following.

"Any beers around?" He asked.

"We've got a fridge downstairs with a few" you said, and he nodded.

"Want to have a drink?" He asked turning to you.

You stared up at him before nodding slowly. You could do with a drink, a few to be exact.

"Lead the way"

Silently, you lead Ghost down the stairs, and as you both move through the halls, you hear the sound of his footsteps behind you. Upon reaching a small, private space, you come upon a bar table with a small fridge, and you open the fridge, asking Ghost what he would like to drink. You quickly grab the desired drink and hand one to Ghost without a word.

You heard the distinctive "snap" of his can opening, and you grabbed the box of them, walking back upstairs before placing it on the counter. Without a word spoken, you grabbed one for yourself, hopping up on the counter to enjoy your beverage in comfortable silence.

Despite the lack of conversation between the two of you, it felt natural and easy. It wasn't necessary to fill the air with useless chat, but instead, it was pleasant to enjoy each other's company without the obligation to talk.

You catch his eyes lingering at your thigh, at the stitches which held you together while he took a drink. You looked down at your thigh before your eyes flick around the spacious room. The tall wooden beams holding up the hallways above provide a sense of stability and security, while the plants decorate the sleek interior with splashes of color and add a sense of life and vibrancy to the area.
