Truth be told, Scarlet, after a long time, felt at the top of the world. She was getting trained by Voldemort almost every week on the darkest of dark arts, on duels and snarky attacks. On the other hand, she was receiving Auror training by none other than Alastor Moody himself — surely, he was always in a terrible mood but the man could fight like hell.

Additionally, she had been practicing risky spells and charms from her green book, it gave her some odd sense of power she could not give up on even if she tried. As though... she was addicted.

Voldemort asked her to stay behind after the meeting, and everybody else took their leave. "What do you think about the war?" Voldemort asked her curiously, bloodshot red eyes squinting in her direction. As usual, he was sitting at the head of the table with the girl on his right.

"I think it's all games," Scarlet told him. "I think the entirety of Britain is a chess board and we are all pieces on it, you and I, and all the others."

"Why would you say war is necessary, Scarlet?" Voldemort asked, "Why do I not simply attack the Ministry with my fellow supporters myself and take over the country?"

Scarlet knew he could. However, she also knew that the only way for Voldemort to demonstrate power was through this war. Without this war, he would never be anything. The sense of strength and influence would slip beyond his reach. Voldemort may be able to overpower the Ministry but he could never overthrow purebloods. All the ancient and noble houses with vaults in the deepest, darkest underground holes at Gringotts, filled with golds to buy an entire city — Voldemort would not compare. The war is the only way to promise himself and his fellow pureblood supporters that he too possesses immense power.
