Scattered about the clearing were hundreds upon hundreds of [pyreflies] that buzzed around aimlessly.

The entire ensemble gave a mysterious and unsettling appearance. To add to the image, spread out around the entire clearing were many blue colored flames that flickered about floating mysteriously by themselves.

even from a far was fairly obvious. There was no way I was ready to take on such a challenge. My intent immediately was to skirt about the edge of the clearing to avoid detection.

My worst fears, one that I could have never foreseen were then immediately realized the moment I took one step into the open clearing.
