Chapter 122: Wailing Howls IV

Staring up at death I froze. It quickly reared its head back to go for my throat.

Just before it's could sink it's fangs into me the beast was knocked away with a blow to the head.

I looked up to see Xuelian standing between me and the beast. Her shield acting as a bulwark between us and death.

"Tsubasa, get up!" Xuelian without taking her eyes of the beast shouting at me bringing me back to reality.

I jumped to my feet, took a swig from my potion, then poised myself ready to fight. Sword in hand I centered myself.

The beast shrug off the blow then turned to Xuelian. Charging at her, the beast continued to assault her and Xuelian blocked each attack with fierce determination.

I came behind cutting at it with several swipes. We continued to repeat our strategy a few more times till the monster's health dropped to zero and it's body broke apart into millions black specks.

"We won right?" I asked.

"Yeah, we did" Xuelian replied with a subtle stillness in her voice.
