Chapter 30: Boss - The Flare Eyes

With unearthly speed and agility, the suit of armor dashed towards me. It's pace seemed slow, but before I could blink it stood directly over me.

Coming back to my senses I dodged its horizontal slash. I had almost escaped its strike, but at the tail end of the attack it's sword nicked my shoulder.

Instantly a half a quarter of my health was gone. Just that small hit took so much of my health, I was in shock.

Though a moment later I was in shock for whole other reason.

I had felt it fully.

The words Run Maurus spoke earlier sprang to mind. The nerves in my arm screamed in agony. I was in tears. It hit me hard, really hard, this game was no longer just a game, it was a game of survival.

I felt genuine fear, genuine pain, I felt hopelessness, and helplessness.

Though I didn't even have the time to comprehend or even rationalize these thoughts. I looked up to see the boss bearing down on me, its sword raised to strike me down.
