"Dragon Slayer?" Mira breathed. Her face was so close to yours. Her hair through your fingers.
You nodded.
Truth is, you hated being a Dragon Slayer. It brought unwanted attention and you didn't like being singled out. The magic was cool and you missed your foster parents but why couldn't you just be normal?
"I hate it," you whispered.
"Why?" She asked, moving her head to look in your eyes. You avoided her gaze and said nothing. "You know about my magic, right?" She continued, "it's powerful. And I thought it was a curse. But I can help people with it. I can protect the ones that I love. And you can too. Just embrace it."
Just embrace it...
"Okay," you replied, "and I'll do it for you."
