"I understand.
I know how hard it is to live with both of us.

When we don't like feeling out of control.
When we don't handle conflict well.
When we don't handle being yelled at well.

When everything you say to us will be repeated and deconstructed and analyzed in our head a million times after.

And if I am silent for a while,

It is only because I have to fight with her before I can fight with you."

I stiffened as I heard a knock on the door, my brows dipping in confusion. Angling my head, I sniffed the air for a few moments before letting out a dejected sigh.

Dammit, of course he remembered.

"Come on in, Damien," I practically groaned.

Immediately after those words left my mouth, he stepped in, the door slipping shut behind him, and his eyes narrowing suspiciously on me.

"You're usually down at the training fields by now," he pointed out, not even bothering with a greeting.

I unclasped the earring I was trying on, and set it back in the jewelry box on my vanity before turning to him. "Do we have to train today?"

He scowled. "You didn't show up yesterday."

"Yeah." I stood up, and strode over towards him. "I was a bit busy."

"And you're not busy right now," he pointed out, "So come on."

I pouted. "This isn't fair. You're not allowed to boss me around, I thought I was the Queen."

"You said you'd train me."

"I didn't say how often."

"You literally said everyday."

"That was just so I could sound cool."

He waved his hands in exasperation, whilst turning away from me, an annoyed hand running through his hair.

"Alright, alright," I gave in, my shoulders sagging in defeat. "I'll go change."

Walking towards the closet, I shot him one last glare before shutting the door behind me. I quickly slipped on a pair of black high waisted training leggings, along with a matching sports bra before grabbing my athletic sneakers and stepping back out.

Damien waited patiently for me in the middle of my bedroom, his eyes watching me as I sat down on the first step leading up the bed and began putting on my shoes. "So how's your mate situation?" I asked curiously, my hands fumbling with the laces.

"It's fine, I guess," he shrugged, and my gaze briefly flickered up to him, a wave of sympathy washing over me.

"You should be more worried about yourself," the wolf added, almost cryptically, his brows raised.

Finishing up with the laces, I jumped up, enjoying the lightness of the sneakers I wore. "What are you talking about?" I questioned incredulously.

"A certain friend of the Alpha is back in town," he murmured whilst I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail.

Opening the door, I waited for him to walk out before joining him in the hall. "Which friend?" I asked curiously, my lips already tugging into a frown as we began walking.

He blinked down at me in confusion. "You mean he hasn't told you?"

My frown deepened. "Hasn't told me what?"
