"And into the forest I go,

Perhaps to lose my mind

and find my soul in the process."

I was ordered to remain in bed for the next week by none other than King Livius Artemis, who somehow turned out to be not only a renowned business magnate but also a part time doctor.

The bastard would spend every waking moment ensuring that I wasn't doing anything besides 'resting.' And the worst thing was that everyone else agreed with him.

Mrs. Valentina had been nodding her head in agreement as he explained why I couldn't overwhelm my body, Sebastian had brought a deck of fuckin Uno cards to play, proving to me that he wouldn't let me go anywhere while I was in his care. Damien had come in the next day with a new MacBook air and somehow managed to goad me into getting some University work done during my little house arrest.

Admittedly, it kept me busy for awhile, but I was still on winter break and I basically had no assignments to turn in. So, I spent the better half of that day rewatching old movies with Jayden's mate and little Bella.

Luckily, Chef Elijah managed to make this entire ordeal a little less painful by catering to my every whim, while also sneaking me a few sweets here and there.

But still, I was only three days in and I already wanted out.

Today Livius was too busy steeling his borders to ensure Gabriel and his lackeys didn't escape. Sebastian, Elias, and Julian were swamped with meetings. General Levon was helping William train the wolves. Elle was spending the day with the Estienne family. And Bella was at school.

Everyone had shit to do, and I was being forced to stay in here.

My fever had slightly died down, though a part of me knew it was still too early to tap into my magic. I still hadn't fully adjusted, and the heat burning beneath my skin was only proof of that.

But I had to take care of Gabriel. I promised Father I would. And every second I wasted in here was another opportunity for him to escape.

No one was watching me today, but how was I going to get far enough into the woods without anyone stopping me?

I let out a groan, and pressed my palm to my forehead, my elbows resting on the surface of my vanity. "Fuck."

"Well shit, you look like you have a lot on your mind."

My head snapped up, the silvery strands of my hair flying away from my face as my gaze met that of the girl standing at the threshold of my door.

I narrowed my eyes on Victoria. I hadn't seen her since we'd been together in the woods. It was... strange for her to show up now. "What do you want, Victoria?"

Her arms were crossed behind her back while she arched a perfect brow. "Can I not come visit a dying Luna?"

I snorted, turning my gaze from her and instead fiddling with the Sparrow necklace Livius had gotten me months ago. "I'm not dying. Though, I don't think it would upset you very much if I was."

She said nothing, and I also remained silent as she strode over to me, her footsteps light on the marble floor as she came to place a basket of chocolate covered strawberries before me.

"Are they poisoned?" I questioned with a tilt of my head.

Victoria rolled her eyes. "Like I'd waste my time buying poison just for your ass."

I finally glanced at her again, not missing the way she fidgeted under my gaze, or the way her brow twitched and the tip of her shoe hit the floor in slight anxiousness.
