To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all who everywhere invoke the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.
1 Corinthians 1: 2
Paul writes a letter to a very special church. The Corinthian church received many gifts and many manifestations of the Holy Spirit. She was called to be a holy church. (1 Corinthians 1: 2) However, she was lost in the midst of it all. Some wanted to be more than the others. There was a dispute of powers and gifts. But Paul was sent to change that. The church changed, and was sanctified again. Years later, today we need to become a sanctified church again. We need to be holy because the Lord is Holy, just for that! We must be holy in all areas of our lives. (1 Peter 1:15)
