The clock was once more ticking closer to the inevitable departure from Seoul. Even if you tried not to think about it by the time Sunghoon led you back in your bedroom, the clock was antagonizing you as it faced the bed you were curled up in.

It was too close for your own good for this night to finally end.

You understood your mother's reasoning, wanting to just keep you safe. But it made you feel so alone, the realization that because you wanted to bring a relief in her side, you have to face the possibility of spending your last day at this hospital in a sad note.

It was coming closer - your breathing shallowed out as you knew, after Jake and Sunoo, you'd have to talk to the boy who you think is the most fragile one in your opinion. With you trying to hold your tears, you payed no heed to anything that happened around you. Even when the door opened up to let someone in, even when there was a thud of knees falling abruptly to the edge of the bed.

It was only the touch of a hand, over your shoulder, and up to your head that cut through your stupor. You forced to open up your eyes as you found yourself staring right back into Jake's concerned eyes.

"I'm sorry I didn't get here earlier because my dad came", he murmured, searching your watering eyes. For a moment, his hand left your hair, shifting steadily around you to make you sit up in a comfortable position, and he added, "Do you want me to leave to talk to the other boys first?"

Silently, you shook your head as much as you could and you swallowed thickly when Jake nodded once, understanding. It was so jarring, to see this passionate boy in front of you, wasn't bold for once and he was, instead, splintering into pieces every seconds.

"Why do you keep waiting for me, Jake?", you asked, the words coming out as nothing more than a lingering whisper, "Especially if its hurting you so much to see me with the other boys?"

He heard your words, despite the quietness of it. He reached out, taking your hand between both of his, and Jake offered you a sad smile, "I am willing to wait for the time for you to finally choose me over anyone else because everything meaningful takes time"

You begin to watch him contemplatively. Even as your breathing grew heavier, the weight of his words sinking down to your heart and even when you began to tear up in front of him, Jake didn't look away. He remained right where he was, eyes on yours and willing to show you just how much he was mad for you until the end.

It was obvious that he didn't want to see you like this, so afraid to hear what he wanted to say but he was the sort of boy that would remain there, right beside you only because he needed to make things right. Sunghoon is right, for the past few weeks, he had been nothing but outrightly selfish about you.
