The next morning she awoke to a kick in her ribs.

"Get off Jake," she said instinctively, whilst dragging herself out from her dream state.

"Oh, sorry Ness, I thought you were Jake," she heard Paul's voice say. Renesmee pulled the covers off her head and blinked until Paul came into focus.

"Good job you're tough skinned eh?" he said.

She looked at him confused, her head still trying to catch up. He looked slightly worried when she didn't respond.

"You are ok, aren't you?" he asked concerned, "'cos Jacob will kill me otherwise."

"Yea I'm fine," she finally managed to respond, getting back up to speed.

"Good," he said cheerfully, "where is he anyway?"

"He's sleeping in the lounge," she confirmed, starting to sit herself up in bed.

"Since when?" he asked shocked, "Have you two had another fight?"

"No we haven't," Renesmee responded bluntly, "we're probably just getting a little too old and big to share the same bed."

He giggled at something but didn't divulge what.

"What are you doing here anyway?" she asked him whilst getting out of bed and making it behind her.

"Rachel's gone shopping with Emily and some of the others, so I've come over here to find something to do," he said, making his way out of the room and down towards the lounge.

"Or something to eat more like," she commented, following after him.

"Hey, I resent that!" he replied.

"How can you resent that?" Jacob contributed looking over at them. He was wearing a pair of checked PJ bottoms and was putting a grey t-shirt over his head as he spoke. "You know it's true."

Before Paul had a chance to respond, Jacob looked directly at her. His eyes softened and a massive smile planted itself on his face.

He spoke to her happily in his beautiful and slightly gravelly voice, "Morning Nessie."

She went slightly funny inside, automatically smiling back at him, wishing her heart didn't pound too much quicker, as they would all surely hear it. She blushed for good measure. Trying to pull herself together to speak, she focused on keeping her bubbling emotions out of her voice.

"Morning Jake," she replied, pleased that she heard a sweet and steady voice coming out her mouth.

"Do you want any breakfast?" he asked, making it clear he was only offering her.

"Yes please," she replied.

Paul gave up and sat himself down on the dining table chairs, resting his back against the wall and his legs across some of the empty seats. He looked at Jacob and Renesmee.

"Do you want your favourite? Waffles?" he asked her kindly.

"Ooo, you sure? They're a pain to make," she replied.

"Yea of course, anything for you," he said, making her blush slightly again as she propped herself up against the kitchen wall.

"Do you think they'll be a little left over for me?" Paul questioned. Renesmee and Jacob laughed at him.

"So predictable," Jacob muttered, then more audibly said, "I know my Sister wouldn't have left your house without ensuring you were fed, so don't think you're fooling me."

Renesmee chuckled a little to herself, it was funny how much of a hypocrite Jacob became when it was him cooking the food. It was so often him taking up offers of seconds or thirds if the chance presented itself. Although in fairness to Jacob it was often down to chance, Paul seemed to plan his trips especially sometimes.

Paul decided to ignore Jacob's comment.

"What are we going to do today? We should do something fun," he said.

"What have you got in mind?" Jacob asked. Paul responded with a list of suggestions.

Renesmee had her mind preoccupied elsewhere, Jacob looked cute in his PJ's with his hair messed up from sleeping. She couldn't help but stare at him, whilst he made up the waffle mixture. She saw him glance over at her while he was talking to Paul, she snapped back to listening to what they were saying in case she was required to contribute. Paul was still reeling off suggestions, so they had clearly not decided on anything yet.

"..the beach, the mountains, football, baseball, we could drive somewhere".

"Yea could do," Jacob replied noncommittally as he poured the batter into the waffle press. Renesmee moved forward to see better, nervously keeping a slight distance from Jacob. She was a unsure how she would have normally reacted and didn't want to give herself away, especially with Paul as an audience. Jacob looked around at her, then stepped towards her, flung his free arm around her and dragged her over with him. He kissed her hair.

"How you doing sweetheart? Did you sleep ok?" he asked. She suddenly felt all nervous and slightly panicky, like a 13 year old girl. She'd always been pretty cool and collected, why did she have to suddenly become so awkward.

"Yea slept ok thanks, you?" Was all she managed to get out politely. He giggled slightly.

"Took me a while to get off to sleep, but yea the sofa was incredibly cosy," he replied, "So what are you so nervous about? Surely it can't be my cooking, if you consider the alternatives," he said with a look at her and Paul.

Damn him for being so observant, she knew she'd probably been too obvious, but any other guy wouldn't have picked up on it. Jacob knew her too well though.

"I'm not nervous," she attempted to reply.

"Yea you are," he said matter of factually, "But you don't need to be." He smiled down at her warmly. It seemed to have the effect he was after and she started to relax all over, kicking the nervy teenage girl out of her.

"Ok," she said more confidently, smiling back at him, wrapping her arm around his back.

"Ooo, there's a go kart track I've been wanting to try out a few miles east of here," Paul said kick starting his conversation again.

"That could be a shout," Jacob replied excitedly.

"What about you Ness, would you be up for that?" Jacob asked her. She wanted to say yes, but knew after last night that she would unfortunately have to sort out a few things today..

"Afraid not," she replied, "I need to see Ethan today". Jacob broke away from her a little too quickly, so much so she felt some sort of spark come from him, it must have been static. He fussed over the waffles, doing the same thing he was doing a minute ago perfectly happily with one hand, but apparently now needing both. His reaction interested her, he looked slightly angry. This could prove useful to her if she was going to maintain a slight distance from him. Maybe she didn't need to tell him straight away about her splitting up with Ethan.

Now however she extended him the same courtesy he'd had a minute ago when she'd been feeling a bit odd. She wrapped her arm back around him and said.

"Aw I'm sorry, you know I'd love to come with you otherwise. You'll have to go test it out and let me know if it's any good.'' He softened slightly, but not entirely.

"Ok, I guess that will have to do," he said slightly grumpy.

"I might be free again this evening though if you want to do something then?" she tried, attempting to lift his mood. He instantly perked up and his head snapped around to look at her.

"You won't be with him all day then?" he asked a little too pleased. She couldn't help but smile at his face.

"No, I shouldn't be there too long," she replied, hoping to not give too much away.

His mood was much better improved as they ate breakfast, happily chatting to Paul about go karting. It was Renesmee worrying, about what she would have to say to Ethan.

As she left Jacob's later, it was with a great deal of apprehension that she called Ethan and arranged to meet him.
