It's was around 4am. Rory was asleep and Logan was sleeping in the same position he'd been sleeping in before when Logan heard a familiar voice in the hallway.
He got up and left the room, closing the door behind him "Lorelai" Logan called her over
"Logan" Lorelai sighed and walked to him "are you ok?"
"I'm fine" he assured her "Rory's fine. The baby's fine. Everyone's fine"
"What the hell happened?"
"Drunk driver ran a red light"
"Oh god!" Lorelai put her face in her hands "where's Rory?"
"She asleep" Logan said
"I don't care"
"Right, ok then, this way" Logan opened the door and they walked into the room
"Oh, my god" Lorelai whispered and put her hand over her mouth. "Tell me it's not as bad as it looks" Lorelai looked at Logan with tears in her eyes
Logan sighed "she's gonna be ok"
Lorelai sat down in a chair and Logan sat back down on the stool next to Rory's bed
A few hours later Rory opened her eyes "mom?" Rory was surprised to see Lorelai
"Rory" Lorelai stood up and walked over to Rory
"Did you hear? I'm part robot now?"
Lorelai looked at Logan, questioningly "um.....what?"
"I'm part robot now" Rory said again
"Ok, I don't get whatever weird joke you're making"
"She's got metal pins in her arm"
"You what?!"
"I had a broken collarbone and a broken....I forgot what it's called but the upper arm bone"
"Humerus, Ace" Logan chuckled
"Right. I had a broken collarbone and a broken humerus and I had surgery to fix that and my torn rotator cuff"
"Oh, my god!"
"There's more" Logan said, quietly
"I also have 4 broken ribs and a concussion"
"Oh, my god"
"And the stitches you can see" Rory said "ok, now I'm done"
"You call this fine?!" She turned to Logan "this is not fine!"
"Mom"
"No. This is not ok! You guys shouldn't be injured! you shouldn't be in a hospital! It's 8am on a Wednesday morning you guys should be at work, or getting ready for work, I don't know your routines but you should not be here" Lorelai has tears in her eyes
"Mom, really, we're ok"
"Good morning" the doctor came in "how are we doing?"
"We're all good" Rory said
"What's bothering you?" The doctor asked
"What?"
"Rory, I've has enough patients in my career to know when someone is in pain."
"My head hurts a little" Rory admitted
"See you're not fine" Lorelai said
"Mom, a headache is fine"
"A headache is fine, but you do have a concussion so you have to be careful. I'll turn the lights off, it may help"
