"Loin fruit!" Lorelai said when Rory opened the door
"I thought you weren't getting here until later. I was gonna pick you up"
"Is that any way greet your mother?" Lorelai joked
"Sorry״ Rory chuckled "hi mom" she hugged her
"I got an earlier flight and took a cab" Lorelai explained as they walked to the living room
"Dada" Logan said, holding Lena up in the air "say dada"
"What's with him?" Lorelai chuckled
"Lena just got the age where she could say her first word soon" Logan said ".... And we might be getting just a little competitive about if it'll be mama or dada"
"You know, it might not be either of those" Lorelai said "Rory's first word was book. Go figure"
"Shhh" Rory shushed her "it'll be mama. I'm telling you. I can feel it"
"Wrong" Logan chuckled
"Just you wait and see" Rory said
"Hey" lorelai grabbed Rory's arm and Rory looked at her questioningly "are you doing ok?" She asked, softly
"Yeah"
"You're sleeping?"
"Most nights"
"Ok...good" Lorelai nodded "now I wanna hold my beautiful granddaughter" she walked over to Logan and tried to take Lena from him. Lena started crying
"Probably should've warned you" Logan said, holding Lena against his chest and rocking her "she's not been the biggest fan of people the past few weeks"
"I went to drop her off at daycare yesterday and she loves it there, but when I tried to hand her off and she started screaming"
"It's a phase" Lorelai said, stroking Lena hair "most babies go through it"
"I know"
"Mmm" Lena mumbled and reached for Rory
Rory gasped and took Lena from Logan "that's right! Mama. Say ma ma" Rory said in a high pitched voice
"You look ridiculous" Lorelai said
"I don't care. I'm winning" Rory said
"No you're not" Logan scoffed
"Uh, yeah I am. Did you hear that just now? She's so close to saying mama"
"I love you, Ace, but you're wrong"
"Wanna bet?"
"Yeah, actually"
"Diaper duty"
"For a week"
"Done" Rory said and she and Logan shook hands
Lorelai just shook her head and laughed at them

Later that day the four of them were walking through the supermarket, getting junk food for Willy wonka night
"Peanut butter cups!" Lorelai said and threw them in the cart
"Nope" Rory took them out of the cart and put them back on the shelf. "Lena"
"She can't be around peanuts?" Lorelai asked "I thought she just couldn't eat them"
"She can't eat or touch them. She can be around them but she crawls around and gets into stuff" Rory said "plus, we touch it and eat it and then we touch her and kiss her and it's a risk. I don't feel like sticking my 8 month old with an epi-pen"
