Back To School

August 20th 2027

"Mom!" Lena came running down into the basement

"What?" Rory asked, not looking up from her work

"I can't find my cleats and I have practice in a hour"

Rory sighed and stood up "how is it that you never know where these shoes are?" Rory asked as she started to help Lena find her shoes

"You never know where your keys are" Lena shrugged

"Keys are a lot easier to lose than a whole pair of shoes, Lena"

"Looking for these?" Daniel came down and held up Lena's soccer cleats

"Where were they?" Lena asked

"Under the couch" Daniel threw the shoes to Lena

"You're a lifesaver!" Lena ran past Daniel going up the stairs

"Did you go through your backpack?" Rory asked

"Yeah" Daniel said

"You need anything else?"

"Yeah. A school without my little sister in it" he rolled his eyes

"Sucks to be you!" Lena laughed from upstairs

"Not helpful!" Rory shouted

"Why does she have to go to my school?" Daniel groaned

"Because middle schools comes after elementary school"

Daniel rolled his eyes

"It won't be that bad"

"Whatever" Daniel groaned and went upstairs

A little while later Logan walked into the house with Sophie

"Guess who's back!" Logan called out

"Hey!" Rory exclaimed and hugged Sophie "how was camp?"

"It was great!" Sophie said, excitedly "there was this one time that Heather caught a giant fish in the lake and she put it in a bucket in the shower and when our counselor went in there she screamed so loud that I bet they could hear it all the way on the other side of the camp"

"Sounds like you had a good time" Rory smiled

"I did" Sophie said "and look" she held out his arms that were full of friendship bracelets

"Wow"

"Yeah, it's a bummer that I have to take them off when school starts, though"

"I'll put them on a keychain for you"

"Thank you"

August 30th

Logan and Rory were asleep, his arm around her waist. They still had some time before their alarm went off but were woken up by knocking on their bedroom door.

"Lena, it's 5:30!" Rory groaned, not opening her eyes

"It's creepy how you can always tell which one of us it is" Lena said as she opened the door

"I repeat, it's 5:30 in the morning"

"Sorry" Lena whispered

"What do you need?" Logan mumbled

"Mom's blue sweater"

"Closet" Rory said

"Thank you" Lena got the sweater from Rory's closet and left the room
