Anyone personally taken into the care of Fu Jichen and brought to the Rose Manor would be considered highly esteemed, in Xiao Jingshan's view, necessitating no neglect on his part.

After carefully examining the injuries all over the woman's body in bed, Xiao Jingshan tentatively concluded they were superficial wounds, not reaching any internal organs.

Fu Jichen had previously described the situation over the phone, and he brought a medical kit for treating external injuries. He took out some medicine and handed it to Zhou Rongzhen, saying, "It's best to clean the wounds of any dirt before applying the medicine and be cautious to prevent infection."

"Got it," Zhou Rongzhen replied.

After bathing, Fu Jichen walked slowly from the master bedroom, his damp short hair half-dried, now appearing even darker than when fully dry. His face, with a deep blue sleep robe accentuating his tall and slender figure, stopped in front of the door and encountered Xiao Jingshan about to leave. He asked, "How is she?"

Pausing in his steps, Xiao Jingshan replied, "Apart from the areas that are difficult to examine, I've checked the rest of her injuries. Most seem to be from falls and cuts from hard objects, not from being beaten, so her internal organs should be fine. If you're still worried, we can take her to the hospital for a comprehensive examination after she wakes up."

Hearing his description, which wasn't too serious, Fu Jichen hesitated slightly and asked in confusion, "But how did she end up unconscious?"

Xiao Jingshan hesitated for a moment, then smiled and said, "There could be many reasons. I'm not entirely sure what happened to her, so it's not easy to draw conclusions. It could be due to excessive fear combined with physical exhaustion."

"Alright, I understand."

Fu Jichen took a cigarette pack and a lighter from the square pocket of his robe, handing one to Xiao Jingshan and taking one for himself, which he bit between his lips before lighting it. He then tossed the lighter to Xiao Jingshan with both hands, almost dropping it, saying, "I forgot to remind you. Although her condition isn't serious, we shouldn't be complacent, especially guard against high fever at night."

In the dim and quiet corridor, with sparks flickering intermittently, Fu Jichen's face was veiled in a faint haze of smoke, making his expression indiscernible. However, his words were audible, "In that case, stay overnight."

"What?"

"If you don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night and rush from your bed to my house."

After a few mental twists and turns, Xiao Jingshan finally understood. Fu Jichen meant for him to stay overnight at the Rose Manor to prevent any unexpected situations with the girl at night, sparing him the trouble of rushing from his home. It was strange indeed. Just who was the girl in bed?

Fu Jichen called for the housekeeper and instructed her to prepare another bedroom for Dr. Xiao, any room on the second floor would do, but she was not allowed to come to the third floor.

The third floor was his private domain.

Xiao Jingshan had nothing more to say and naturally complied with the order respectfully.

The Rose Manor was connected by corridors on three sides, with four floors above ground and two below, totaling hundreds of rooms of all sizes.

Xiao Jingshan picked a suite-like bedroom on the second floor without hesitation. With regular cleaning by servants and a high frequency of it, everything was clean and tidy, free of any dust. When Zhou Rongzhen came, she only needed to change the bed sheets and quilts before he could move in.

"Thank you, Auntie Zhen," Xiao Jingshan said as he sat down on the sofa by the bed.

Crossing his legs, he slid open the lid of the metal lighter with his fingers and lit the cigarette Fu Jichen had given him earlier.

"It's nothing, just my duty," Zhou Rongzhen replied gently, smoothing out the wrinkles in the sheets, then stood up straight and said, "If you need anything, just call me. I'll go check on the girl on the third floor."

Mentioning the "girl," Xiao Jingshan couldn't help but be curious. Exhaling a puff of smoke, he sat up straight and asked, "Is that girl Mr. Fu's girlfriend?"

As a housekeeper, Zhou Rongzhen was particularly cautious about not gossiping about her employer's private affairs, and she was especially careful in this regard. Hearing his question made her somewhat nervous, and she hastened to say, "I don't know, really, I don't know."

Xiao Jingshan was a few years older than Fu Jichen, now thirty-five years old, easygoing and witty. Occasionally, he liked to make harmless jokes. His question just now was casual, without any other meaning, and he waved his hand to indicate that the housekeeper could leave.

Zhou Rongzhen secretly breathed a sigh of relief, picked up the girl's hand, and gently wiped away the tattered dress on her body, then brought a basin of warm water to wash her face and body, handling her with extreme care to avoid causing any further harm.

The young maid saw the clean face, fair and delicate, couldn't help but whisper, "She's so pretty."

Zhou Rongzhen glanced at her warningly.

Auntie Zhen usually behaved too gently and tolerantly, rarely losing her temper. There was no one else here, and Mr. Fu had gone to the study to work. The maid pretended not to see Auntie Zhen's warning and whispered, "I'm just telling the truth. I've never seen such a beautiful girl before, her skin is as white as milk. Do you know who she is to Mr. Fu?"

"Tsk." Zhou Rongzhen frowned and spoke more seriously, "From now on, just forget everything I've told you, and do you still want to work here?"

The maid stuck out her tongue, took the girl's hand, and used a cotton towel to gently wipe it.

Afterward, Zhou Rongzhen personally took care of applying the medicine, finding others too clumsy and not meticulous enough.

It was past two in the morning, but the study was as bright as day.

Fu Jichen picked up the now cold coffee beside him and took a sip, his brow slightly furrowed as he stared at the computer screen. The light from the screen reflected on his handsome face, revealing the darkness in his eyes.

He held the mouse, deleting an email from an old acquaintance in the northern city.

The people of the Fu family were not easy to deal with. He had only been away from the group headquarters for half a year, and they had been making big moves ever since. His second uncle, third uncle, aunt, along with their children, were all vying for power.

As they say, when the gods fight, the little ghosts suffer.

When the people of the Fu family fought, even if they weren't little ghosts, they would still suffer. It was a pity for the Shen Group, which had started from scratch and worked hard to get to this point...
