Two days later, Shen Jianian finally regained her ability to speak, though her voice was somewhat hoarse.

Bai Changxia had originally planned to return to Beicheng on the afternoon of the seventh day of the Lunar New Year. However, she changed her flight to accompany Shen Jianian.

"Are you really planning to return to Beicheng?" Bai Changxia asked as they entered the legendary Rose Manor, currently in the room where Shen Jianian usually stayed.

The scenery along the way to the manor was breathtaking, even in the desolate winter. Despite the cold, there was still abundant greenery, as if they had entered another world. The front yard was spacious, adorned with fountains, pavilions, and rockeries, seemingly casual but meticulously designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape.

The interior décor was exquisite and luxurious, yet not ostentatious, indicating that the owner of the manor was a gentleman of taste and refinement.

"It's Fù Jìchén's decision," Shen Jianian replied.

In front of Shen Jianian was an open suitcase, half-filled with clothes. She was still a little tired from being discharged from the hospital and sat slumped on the sofa, her body leaning back against soft pillows, her eyes staring at the ceiling.

The bandages wrapped around her neck had not been removed yet. Even though the wound was not visible, it was still a disturbing sight.

Fù Jìchén had mentioned several times before about her returning to Beicheng, but she had firmly refused each time. He had not pressed her, but this time, it was an order.

"It's better to stay by his side, so you won't be alone and unsafe here," Bai Changxia said as she continued to pack Shen Jianian's luggage. "You really scared me this time. Honestly, I've never experienced anything like this before. Just thinking about it makes me shudder. It feels like it could have made the news."

Shen Jianian smiled faintly.

"You're still able to laugh." Bai Changxia threw a scarf over her and said with lingering fear, "You should consider yourself lucky. You've narrowly escaped death."

Shen Jianian took off the scarf and neatly folded it, putting it into the suitcase. Her voice sounded distant, "I actually don't really want to go back to Beicheng."

Bai Changxia stopped her movements and stood up straight, looking at her, understanding her concerns.

For her, Beicheng was a place of heartbreak, stirring up memories and emotions.

"Don't worry, I'll be with you," Bai Changxia said, walking behind the sofa and placing her hands on Shen Jianian's shoulders, gently patting twice. "If you're not happy, just call me. I'll be there in a heartbeat."

"Having you here is really nice," Shen Jianian thanked her sincerely.

"Alright, enough with the cheesy talk. Let's see if there's anything else we need to pack." Bai Changxia was not one for sentimentality, except for the period when Shen Jianian went missing and her emotions got out of control.

Shen Jianian tapped her own cheeks, trying to cheer up and join Bai Changxia in packing.

Changing the subject, Bai Changxia said, "I now fully believe that Fù Jìchén treats you well. Look at your clothes and belongings, all high-end. And that cello, I glanced at it briefly, but it must have cost a fortune, right?"

"You mean Yan Qiusheng's cello?"

"My goodness, no wonder it looked so valuable! It's actually Yan Qiusheng's cello!" Bai Changxia's eyes were full of surprise. "He hasn't been in the public eye for a while now. His cello must be a collector's item, right?"
