I knew it was going to be an amazing day today. I knew only from the number of paparazzi asking me questions outside school, from the mentions that were already flooded with people that pledged to support me.

This had probably never happened in the history of gymnastics. The USAG was generally never challenged, they had the final say. But today everyone was opposing their decisions, they were asking for a change. The community of gymnastics had strongly reacted to this decision, criticizing USAG for having a narrow approach and being a bully. They hadn’t reacted back, there was no activity. But every gymnast I knew, every fan I knew over twitter and facebook and my website was dead serious on getting their voice heard.

It was a protest.

I went home and trained like always. The vigor almost made me forget what today was, but Dimitri didn’t. He told Lauren to add a tweet under his name and gave her the exact words. It was their secret, but I couldn’t wait to see what he had to say about me.

I went into the shower and changed into a sundress, complimentary to the climate outside. I was just excited, happy to see this reaction. If nothing else, I was satisfied that we had made every effort to get a chance. Knowing it would be impossible to handle the mentions on my phone, I used the Macbook to log on to twitter. Sitting in the front lawn on the swing with pillows around me, I logged on just in time to see the movement start.
