“Hey boy, need a ride?” Tyson rolled down the window as soon as he spotted him walking down the road with a bag in his hand. He was about to deny when he realized who he was talking to, and got in the backseat. I was returning from practice, and as Dimitri had promised, I was already on painkillers. But number wise it had been a wonderful day, and I was really grateful for that.

“You know, my sister was talking about you yesterday. She said your coach tortured your team.” He poked me on the back and I turned my body to face him.

“That he did.” I groaned, showing him the rips I got today.

“And I thought gymnastics was beautiful.”

Giggling, I plugging in my phone to the stereo. An Eminem track, a non-commercial one with Hailie and her sisters came up.

“I know that’s Eminem, but I never heard this version of the song.” Adrian raised his brows and studied the track further.

“They are little girls!” he exclaimed.

“They are just not any little girls- they’re his daughters.” I revealed a secret only a few selective people knew in the entire world.

“But I never heard this one.” He frowned again.

“Of course you didn’t. This track was never released. It’s way too personal for them.” I smiled as I remembered how they all were so close to each other. They would not trade this song for the world.

“So how come you have it? Stole it?” he was on the edge on his seat now, chin on the driver’s seat so he could look at me.

“No, Hailie gave it to me. The song talks about losing her childhood, and that’s what I was dealing with too.” That was one bad time for us. Two years back, when nothing was going right she gave this one to me and convinced me that I wasn’t alone in the fight. I still loved this track like nothing else.

“Hailie as in the one mentioned in Mockingbird? Hailie’s song?” his brows went higher.

“Yep.” I popped the p and smiled. I got that most of the times. Everyone thought he’d be a crazy dad, but he was the most normal. Ok, maybe not all that normal, he wasn’t home much, pampered his daughters like hell, but he wasn’t all insane either. He tried to be a good dad, to give them the childhood he never got.

“Dude, you have influential friends.”

“Influential?” I raised my brows at him this time now.

“Yeah. I mean come on, Slim Shady’s daughter? Who all do you know?”

“How does it matter if I know families of celebs or not?”

Ok, let me tell you the truth. I hated it when everyone assumed I was friends with all celebrity kids only because they were of ‘my standard.’ It was nothing like that. I had friends from the show business and perfectly normal ones too. I never chose people in my life after evaluating their financial status and stardom. But for some reason, most of them never got it right about me.

“Hey hey, I was just wondering. I mean, you are friends with me, and I’m no celebrity, nor am I influential.” He raised his arms in defeat and I calmed down.

“Who said we were friends?” I mocked him and he wagged his finger at me.

“I saved your ass yesterday.”

“Language.” Tyson warned and I sniffled a laugh. Tyson was the one who abused the most, but when it came to being a bodyguard, he didn’t tolerate anyone using foul words around me.
